People all over the world can now pay for Twitter, as the company has announced that its Twitter Blue subscription service is now available globally<\/a>. While the subscription has been pretty widely available before (you could sign up for it in almost 50 countries<\/a>), the expanded availability reflects the company\u2019s drive to make Twitter Blue an increasingly important part of the service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Part of those efforts, however, includes making promises that it hasn\u2019t kept yet. The company\u2019s announcement tweets list some of the benefits of Twitter Blue, such as getting a checkmark, the ability to write longer tweets<\/a>, getting prioritized ranking in conversations, and seeing half as many ads. Those last two, however, haven\u2019t actually rolled out yet. When you click on the link to sign up for the service, they\u2019re still listed as \u201cComing Soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n CEO and owner Elon Musk has been promising prioritized ranking since November<\/a>, calling the feature \u201cessential to defeat spam\/scam.\u201d However, despite (or maybe because of) Musk\u2019s push to make employees work in \u201chardcore\u201d conditions<\/a>, it hasn\u2019t materialized. The same is true for several of his other promises \u2014 in February, he announced that Twitter was starting to share ad revenue with Blue subscribers, something that hasn\u2019t started happening over a month later<\/a>, and he promised to open source the company\u2019s algorithm on the week of February 27th<\/a>. That didn\u2019t happen, but he\u2019s now promising<\/a> that it will occur on March 31st. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
