Steve Buscemi<\/a> is recovering today after he was reportedly punched in the face in a random attack while walking around New York City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The 66-year-old <\/span>Boardwalk Empire<\/span><\/em> actor was hit in the face last week by an unidentified man and was taken to the hospital for bleeding, bruising and swelling to his left eye, his publicist said in a statement to ET. The news was first reported by the <\/span>New York Post<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” the statement read. “He is ok and appreciates everyone\u2019s well wishes.”<\/span><\/p>\n According to the <\/span>NY Post,<\/span><\/em> the Brooklyn-born actor was walking in Kips Bay just before noon on May 8 when the attack occurred. The assailant — who has yet to be identified — has not been caught in this scary incident.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The attack comes just two months after\u00a0Michael Stuhlbarg — Buschemi’s <\/span>Boardwalk Empire<\/span><\/em> co-star — was hit in the back of the neck while walking through Central Park in March, the outlet reports. Stuhlbarg, 55, was able to chase down his attacker, who was later arrested.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Just days before that, <\/span>Real Housewives of New York City<\/em><\/a> alum <\/span>Bethenny Frankel<\/a> claimed she was the <\/span>victim of another random attack<\/a>\u00a0while walking around the Big Apple.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n At the time, the reality TV star, 53, commented on a TikTok posted by a fashion design student who herself was sharing her assault experience. The fashion design student said in her video that she was walking home when someone randomly punched her.<\/span><\/p>\n “This is insane [because] this happened to me a few months ago but I was embarrassed to say,” Frankel\u00a0wrote in a since-deleted comment but captured by\u00a0<\/span>Page Six<\/a><\/em>. “I was on the UWS [Upper West Side]. Insane. I was taking video of a bakery.”<\/span><\/p>\n The shocking ordeal with Buscemi happens on the heels of ET confirming that he is\u00a0joining the season 2 cast of Netflix’s hit show <\/span>Wednesday<\/span><\/em>, with the <\/span>Grown Ups<\/span><\/em> actor starring as Barry Dort, the new principal of Nevermore Academy. He replaces\u00a0<\/span>Gwendoline Christie<\/a>, whose principal character,\u00a0Larissa Weems, was killed in the season 1 finale.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The show just <\/span>recently began production<\/a> on the second season, which is expected to hit the streamer in late 2024 or 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
