Instagram<\/a>\u00a0on May 8 that his spouse had passed. <\/p>\nHe revealed that Ian was battling bile duct cancer since December, and that he finally lost his battle.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with huge huge sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I\u2019m leaving this post to announce the passing of my darling husband and life partner Ian Gelder,\u201d Ben wrote in his post.<\/p>\n
They pair met on the set of the British play \u201cEntertaining Mr. Sloane\u201d and have been together since 1993. <\/p>\n
Ben revealed he stopped working when his husband got sick, but confessed he didn\u2019t expect Ian to die \u201cso fast\u201d from the \u201cdreadful illness.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was my absolute rock and we\u2019d been partners for more than 30 years,\u201d Ben wrote. \u201cIf we weren\u2019t together we spoke to each other everyday. He was the kindest, most generous spirited and loving human being.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI honestly don\u2019t know what I\u2019ll do without him by my side,\u201d Ben added about his late partner. \u201cHe was remarkable and will be so missed.\u201d<\/p>\n
