The 79-year-old Hollywood veteran, famed for his romps in films including \u2018Basic Instinct\u2019 and \u2018Fatal Attraction\u2019, says the experts are \u201ctaking control\u201d away from filmmakers when it comes to showing actors getting intimate.<\/p>\n
He told the Radio Times: \u201cI\u2019m past the age where I\u2019ve got to worry about that! But it\u2019s interesting with intimacy co-ordinators. It feels like executives taking control from filmmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michael added he accepts the need to make sure women are not being exploited on screen in the wake of Hollywood\u2019s #MeToo movement, but insisted it should be the responsibility of the male actor to ensure his film partner was comfortable.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cIn my experience, you take responsibility as the man to make sure the woman is comfortable.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou say, \u2018I\u2019m going to touch you if that\u2019s all right.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s slow but looks like it\u2019s happening organically.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMichael, who has two children \u2013 Dylan, 23, and 20-year-old Carys \u2013 with his actress wife of 24 years Catherine Zeta Jones, 54, last month said at the peak of his 1980s and \u201990s fame actors would have taken \u201ccare of those that overstep boundaries\u201d during sex scenes.<\/p>\n
\nHe told The Daily Telegraph: \u201cI\u2019m sure there were people that overstepped their boundaries, but before, we seemed to take care of that ourselves. They would get a reputation and that would take care of them. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut I talked to the ladies, (as) I did a few of those sex movies \u2013 sexual movies \u2013 and we joke about it now, what it would have been like to have an intimacy coordinator working with us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMichael\u2019s comments come a month after his \u2018Basic Instinct\u2019 co-star Sharon Stone, 66, said now-dead Hollywood producer Robert Evans, who passed away aged 89 in 2016, pressured her to have sex in real life with Alec Baldwin\u2019s actor brother Billy, 61, as he thought it would improve his performance in their erotic thriller \u2018Sliver\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
