\u201cI would love to see a spin-off on every character in that show.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the post-finale interview White dropped a bit of a hint about this concept, calling the third season \u201ca satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.\u201d<\/p>\nAs for where White and his fellow cast and crew will be checking in on Season 3, he\u2019s plotting a continental shift. <\/p>\n
As he also told Deadline earlier this year: <\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.\u201d<\/p>\nNo premiere date has been set for The White Lotus Season 3, but we\u2019re likely looking at late 2023 \u2014 at the earliest.<\/p>\n
White only finished editing this season \u201c10 days ago,\u201d he recently told Katie Couric on her podcast. <\/p>\n
\u201cI need to reboot a little bit,\u201d White told the reporter, adding:<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have a lot of gas in the tank. So I need to figure out how to unplug and refresh or something.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the \u201cUnpacking S2 E7\u201d clip that aired at the end of the Season 2 finale, the executive producer also hinted that the Season 3 theme may have already been established.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,\u201d White said. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.\u201d<\/p>\nVia this same segment, White unpacked Tanya\u2019s stunning death in the finale, stating on air: <\/p>\n
\u201cIn the end of last season, Tanya is sitting with Greg in the last episode and he\u2019s talking about his health issues. And she says, \u2018I\u2019ve had every kind of treatment over the years, death is the last immersive experience I haven\u2019t tried.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI was thinking, it\u2019d be so fun to bring Tanya back because she\u2019s such a great character, but maybe that\u2019s the journey for her, a journey to death. <\/p>\n
\u201cNot that I really wanted to kill Tanya because I love her as a character and obviously love Jennifer.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I just felt like, we\u2019re going to Italy, she\u2019s such a diva \u2014 a larger than life female archetype \u2014 it felt like we could devise our own operatic conclusion to Tanya\u2019s life and her story.\u201d<\/p>\nIs the story totally over, though? Or could it be a springboard toward Season 3?<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s possible that Portia [Haley Lu Richardson] is scared enough to just leave it alone.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the fact that all of those guys die on the boat, it feels like there\u2019s gotta be somebody who\u2019s gonna track it down to Greg,\u201d he teased.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut maybe you\u2019ll have to wait to find out what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
