As Drake<\/strong><\/a> and Kendrick Lamar<\/strong><\/a> continue to exchange diss tracks at an impressive rate, you might be wondering what exactly started this heated feud. <\/p>\n On Saturday (May 4), Kendrick<\/strong> took the beef to another level with his song \u201cNot Like Us.\u201d On it, he referred to his opponent as a \u201ccertified pedophile,\u201d after proclaiming that Drake<\/strong> \u201clike[s] \u2018em young.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cNot Like Us\u201d follows a string of diss tracks that the rappers have been dropping in the last few weeks. <\/p>\n What\u2019s going on? We did some digging to see what is at the root of their bad blood. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Fans of Drake<\/strong> and Kendrick<\/strong> likely recall that they appeared to have at least a good working relationship in the earlier days of their career. The duo collaborated a few times starting in 2011. <\/p>\n In fact, Kendrick<\/strong> even toured with Drake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n However, Billboard<\/a> noted that some shady disses started flying within a few years. In 2013, Kendrick<\/strong> rapped that he was going to \u201cmurder\u201d Drake<\/strong> and several other rappers, a claim that his peer handled gracefully in an interview at the time. <\/p>\n After that, the pair continued to hint at a feud. Things started heating up again in 2023 when Drake<\/strong> dropped his J. Cole<\/strong><\/a> collaboration \u201cFirst Person Shooter.\u201d On the song, Cole<\/strong> claimed that the public questions if he, Kendrick<\/strong> and Drake<\/strong> are the greatest rapper.<\/p>\n That apparently did not go over well, as Kendrick<\/strong> took aim on his March 2024 collab \u201cLike That\u201d with Future<\/strong><\/a> and Metro Boomin<\/strong>. He made it very clear that there is no trio of top rappers; it\u2019s just him at the pinnacle position. <\/p>\n In April, Drake<\/strong> hit back with several songs, starting with \u201cPush Ups.\u201d<\/a> Another song called \u201cTaylor Made Freestyle\u201d<\/a> was teased but never officially released. His third, called \u201cFamily Matters,\u201d arrived in early May. <\/p>\n On top of \u201cNot Like Us,\u201d Kendrick<\/strong> has dropped \u201cMeet the Grahams,\u201d \u201c6:16 in LA\u201d and \u201cEuphoria.\u201d <\/p>\n At this point, it\u2019s not clear what behind the scenes started things for Drake<\/strong> and Kendrick<\/strong>, but it seems like they are just heating up. <\/p>\n
