The Golden Bachelor<\/span><\/i><\/a> alum <\/span>Kathy Swarts<\/b><\/a> revealed that she will only date divorced men, explaining that she wants a partner who has been married before.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve dated a few men that have never been married and honestly, I won\u2019t do that again,\u201d Kathy, 70, said during the Wednesday, May 1, episode of the \u201cBachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201c[They\u2019re] incredibly selfish, because it\u2019s always been about them.\u201d<\/p>\n However, she said she\u2019s more open minded when it comes to dating men without kids. \u201cBut not having children, you never know, there might be a reason they didn\u2019t have children if they were married,\u201d Kathy explained. \u201cSo that doesn\u2019t bother me as much. But I won\u2019t [date someone who hasn\u2019t been married].\u201d<\/p>\n Fans first got to know Kathy when she competed for Gerry Turner<\/b><\/a>\u2019<\/span><\/i>s heart during season 1 of<\/span> The Golden Bachelor<\/span><\/i>. While their love wasn\u2019t meant to be, she was supportive of Gerry, 72, amid his engagement to<\/span> Theresa Nist<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n Kathy was among the debut season\u2019s contestants to attend Theresa, 70, and Gerry\u2019s wedding<\/span><\/a> in January. Meanwhile, she also weighed in when <\/span>the pair confirmed their plans to divorce<\/span><\/a> in April during a joint appearance on Good Morning America.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe all feel like we want to know more we should know more, they owe us more,\u201d she said about the split during the April 19 episode of the \u201cBachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour\u201d podcast, which she cohosts with Susan Noles<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Kathy then stated that it\u2019s no one\u2019s business to know why the couple decided to call it quits<\/a>. \u201cI think that what they did had to be so hard publicly, to do it all publicly and you know, for that, I admire their courage,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n \u201cThese two did something very different than most people do,\u201d Kathy added about Gerry and Theresa. \u201cThey met in public, they dated in public<\/a>, they got engaged in public, they got married in public and they\u2019re now getting divorced in public.\u201d<\/p>\n The reality star later pointed out that Gerry and Theresa didn\u2019t have the opportunity<\/a> to get to know each other well before their engagement, adding that The Golden Bachelor<\/em> was filmed in a shorter amount of time than other Bachelor Nation shows.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody had less time together to get to know<\/a> everyone and then you know, they didn\u2019t get to see each other very much,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was really like, it was like speed dating.
