\u2018The Price is Right\u2019 host, 65, said he\u2019s hell-bent on never giving up the TV job and constantly thinks about how he wants to shuffle off while fronting the game show.<\/p>\n
He told People: \u201cThoughts of dying on stage with a microphone in my hand have gone through my mind.<\/p>\n
\u201cI never want to leave. I\u2019m having such a good time there. Everybody treats me great and the cast is great and the production office is great.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really feel supported and loved there and wanted. When you\u2019re 65 and in the entertainment business, you don\u2019t really get that that often. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m in a pretty rare situation so I wanna keep that going as long as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDrew took over hosting CBS\u2019 \u2018TPIR\u2019 in 2007 from Bob Barker \u2013 who died last year aged 99 \u2013 and has since revamped the show with a new set, logo and theme music.<\/p>\n
\nDespite loving the job, Drew told how he initially turned down the chance to take over from Bob.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI said, f\u2013 no. I just wanted to be able to do things that were fun and interesting instead of having a \u2018job-job\u2019 or something I had to do every day, because I just had, after being on \u2018The Drew Carey Show\u2019 and everything, I was done with the idea of just being on a show forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDrew changed his mind after he realised how much cash he would need to fund his dream of owning a major league soccer tea.<\/p>\n
\nThe comic \u2013 who is now a minority owner of the Seattle Sounders FC \u2013 added: \u201cI knew how much money it was going to take for that to happen. Then one of the show\u2019s producers asked me what my favourite thing to do was.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI go, \u2018I love leaving big tips when I go to restaurants.\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201c\u2018Well, if you work on \u2018The Price is Right\u2019, you\u2019ll be able to do that all the time for a living,\u2019 they said. \u2018Just give out things.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThat was the light bulb that went off in my head.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI could just make a living giving prizes to people and being around happy people all day. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI met (my agent) at a steakhouse. And I go, \u2018I think I want to be the host of \u2018The Price is Right.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe shook my hand and goes, \u2018Well, there\u2019s your soccer money.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
