Charlie Puth<\/strong><\/a> announced he would be releasing a new song this month, and it seemed as though he was giving Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> the credit for working up the courage to set a release date.<\/p>\n \u201cThese last couple of weeks have been really crazy for obvious reasons, but I wanted to share something with you,\u201d Charlie, 32, wrote via TikTok<\/a> on Friday, May 3.<\/p>\n The \u201cAttention\u201d singer continued, \u201cThis is a song I wrote about my friend called \u2018Hero.\u2019 Sometimes I get a little nervous [about] being overly honest in my music, which is why this has been sitting on my hard drive for a while. But I think someone out there was giving me a sign that I needed to release it.\u201d<\/p>\n Charlie then went on to add that the song would be the first single from his upcoming album and would be available on May 24.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you for your support \u2026 You know who you are,\u201d Charlie wrote, and then concluded with a winking emoticon.<\/p>\n The \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk Anymore\u201d artist previously reposted<\/a> Taylor\u2019s Instagram<\/a> about the success of TTPD<\/em> on his Story on April 28.<\/p>\n Taylor, 34, dropped Charlie\u2019s name in the song \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department\u201d from her recently released album of the same name.<\/p>\n \u201cYou smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate \/ We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,\u201d Taylor sings on the track.<\/p>\n Most fans believe Taylor was referencing a conversation with her ex Matty Healy<\/strong> in the tune, and Matty has been open with his praise for Charlie\u2019s music in the past.<\/p>\n \u201cThat Charlie Puth and Boyz II Men track is harrrrrd,\u201d Matty, 36, wrote via X<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n Boyz II Men were featured in the song \u201cIf You Leave Me Now\u201d from Charlie\u2019s second album, Voicenotes<\/em>, and the \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk Anymore\u201d artist retweeted Matty\u2019s message at the time and wrote, \u201cThank u matty!\u201d<\/p>\n Since the release of The Tortured Poets Department<\/em><\/a> on April 19, Swifties have been poring over the lyrics of each song as they try to decode the relationships the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d songstress is referencing. While many of Taylor\u2019s fans expected TTPD<\/em> to mostly focus on the end of her six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn<\/strong><\/a>, it seems that many of the tracks are actually about The 1975 frontman<\/a>.<\/p>\n Even though Taylor and Matty only had a brief fling, a source exclusively told Life & Style<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, May 2, that their relationship was much deeper than it seemed to the general public.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat looked at the time like a two-month rebound with a bad boy was so much more intense than anyone realized,\u201d the source said. \u201cForget Joe.
