Ryan Reynolds<\/strong><\/a> and Rob McElhenney<\/strong><\/a> said goodbye to the Wrexham goalkeeper, Ben Foster<\/strong>, after he retired from football \u2014 again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it was generous. Incredibly generous thing to do. So few people know when to call it,\u201d Reynolds, 47, said when reacting to Foster\u2019s retirement announcement during the second episode of Welcome to Wrexham<\/em><\/a> season 3, which premiered on Thursday, May 2.<\/p>\n

McElhenney, 47, joked that he\u2019s been making It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/em><\/a> for so long, but never let it end.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been over for five, six years \u2026 just keep making it,\u201d the FX star said. Reynolds chimed in, adding, \u201cI\u2019m making Wolverine 10<\/em>!\u201d (Reynolds appeared to be referring to Deadpool 3<\/em><\/a> in which Hugh Jackman<\/strong> reprised his role as Wolverine.)<\/p>\n

McElhenney added, \u201cWe\u2019re looking at these players and they know when it\u2019s time, and they walk off with dignity. We have zero dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n

In August 2023, Wrexham played Swindon Town and after a rough start to the game, came back and ended the match in a 5 to 5 tie. It was after that game Foster, 41, knew \u201cenough was enough\u201d and it was time for him to retire.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though we\u2019d drawn, the lads were quiet, and they weren\u2019t happy because they knew something was wrong,\u201d Foster said during his confessional. \u201cThey knew that the performance wasn\u2019t what it should be and, this might sound selfish, but I was thinking about my own circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foster decided to tell the manager and coaching staff after the game ended. (Rob Lainton<\/strong> took over for Foster as the team\u2019s goaltender.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI have immense respect for Ben and who he is as both a player and person,\u201d Reynolds continued. \u201cHe\u2019s a huge reason we\u2019re here in the EFL.\u201d<\/p>\n
