The Dance Moms <\/i><\/a>cast once left their moves on the dance floor, and now they\u2019re leaving their emotions out on a reunion stage.<\/p>\n

Lifetime enlisted the OG reality stars \u2014 save for Nia Sioux<\/strong>, Maddie Ziegler<\/strong> and Mackenzie Ziegler<\/strong> \u2014 to return for a special sit-down and revisit their collective Dance Moms <\/i>tenure.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kind of closed it out, blocked it out of my mind. So I was like, \u2018OK, I have to go back and think about it and talk about it. Do I really want to do that?\u2019\u201d Brooke Hyland<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly <\/i>ahead of the Lifetime premiere. \u201cBut I was like, \u2018It\u2019ll be healing, it\u2019ll be therapeutic. We should do it.\u2019 And Chloe [Lukasiak]<\/strong> was saying this yesterday, but if we didn\u2019t go, people were just going to talk about us regardless. So at least we can be there to speak up for ourselves and voice our opinion and how we felt and why we did what we did in those moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooke and her sister, Paige Hyland,<\/strong> were two of the original cast members on Dance Moms<\/i>, which aired between 2011 and 2017. The show followed the junior elite competition team \u2014 also consisting of Maddie, Mackenzie, Nia and Chloe \u2014 at Abby Lee Miller<\/strong>\u2019s eponymous dance company in Pittsburgh. Brooke, now 26, and Paige, now 23, left the team in 2014 before Kendall Vertes<\/strong>, Kalani Hilliker<\/strong> and JoJo Siwa<\/strong> eventually took their spots<\/a> on the squad.<\/p>\n

Lifetime confirmed in November 2023 that the OG dancers and their moms would come together for a new TV special. The network revealed new details on Wednesday, March 6. \u201cDance Moms: [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Kalani, 23, Lifetime tried to reconvene the troops for a reunion several times to no avail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just reached out to us and said, \u2018Would you be interested?\u2019 And I feel like now\u2019s a good time because we\u2019re all a lot older and we\u2019re all adults and we can all have adult conversations,\u201d Kendall, 21, added. <\/i>\u201cSo I think if not now, it probably would\u2019ve never happened, only because our lives are only getting busier, and so luckily it worked out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kendall further noted that they revisited many traumatic show moments<\/a> during the reunion special.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of [the] memories I\u2019ve locked away because a lot of them are trauma or something that I don\u2019t want to talk about,\u201d Kendall, who joined the show during season 2, said. \u201cSo I think that [was] the hardest part. We can all say it was physically and mentally draining after filming it. I mean, as much as we had fun, obviously, it was really hard to have to look back on your childhood and be like, \u2018Wow, that was not a normal childhood.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWho\u2019s at the top of the pyramid? JoJo Siwa, Maddie Ziegler and more stole the spotlight on Dance Moms \u2014 and their parents weren\u2019t afraid to bring the drama. The Lifetime reality series premiered in 2011 and followed the Abby Lee Dance Company\u2019s junior elite competition team as they rehearsed and performed rigorous new routines [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Brooke and Paige, meanwhile, weren\u2019t always on board with returning for the reunion after their season 4 exit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe never had a voice on the show,\u201d Paige explained. \u201cSo I feel like to be able to say what we want and show the world who we are now was necessary because if we didn\u2019t, they would\u2019ve made their own narrative about us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dance Moms <\/i>girls were joined at the reunion by their respective moms: Kelly Hyland<\/strong>, Jill Vertes<\/strong>, Kira Girard<\/strong>, Christi Lukasiak<\/strong> and Jessalyn Siwa.<\/strong> The reunion was a rare time for all the girls and their parents to get together. (Dance instructor Abby Lee, meanwhile, did not appear on the TV special.)<\/p>\n
