Nick Lachey has been ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings \u2014 along with anger management classes \u2014 one year after being charged with assault and battery against a member of the paparazzi.<\/p>\n
The incident in question took place in March 2022 after Lachey allegedly attacked photographer Jody Santos.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned punishments are in place for one year.<\/p>\n<\/noscript>Going back just over a year, footage from last March features Lachey walking over to Santos\u2019 car\u2026 attempting to grab her phone \u2026 and cursing at her after realizing she was taking photos of him and his wife, Vanessa Lachey. <\/p>\n
The Daily Mail reported at the time that he was charged with assault and battery.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Tuesday, the Los Angeles District attorney explained:<\/p>\n
\u201cMr. Lachey has not been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery. Instead he is participating in LADA\u2019s Prefiling Diversion program which was established in 2017. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of these conditions he must participate in anger management classes and attend Alcoholic Anonymous meetings. Successful completion of the Prefiling Diversion Program will result in no criminal charges being filed.\u201d<\/p>\nSaid Santos today:<\/p>\n
\u201cIn all my years of photographing celebrities, no one has ever tried to hit me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am just relieved that I rolled up my window as fast as I did, otherwise he would have knocked me out. No doubt about it\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cI have taken photos of him plenty of times and never had a problem, but this time was different.\u201d<\/p>\nPhoto via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nSantos also claimed last year that Lachey called her a \u201cpsy mother fker,\u201d shoved his arm through my car window, and tried to grab my cell phone,\u201d adding that she \u201ccould smell alcohol on his breath for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat he did was wrong,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n
\u201cAttempting to bust his fist through my car window when all I was doing was taking photographs of him. He should have been thanking me for the free publicity. <\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, really. Talk about an oversized ego.\u201d<\/p>\nSantos further alleged that she \u201cheard Vanessa say, \u2018Go get \u2019em, open the door,\u2019 and then he started walking towards my car all aggressive.\u201d <\/p>\n
After rolling up her car window, the photographer said that Nick punched the glass so hard \u201cI thought he was going to break his hand.\u201d <\/p>\n
She emphasized: I am surprised he didn\u2019t shatter the window.\u201d<\/p>\nFor his part, Lachey Tweeted about the incident one day after it happened. <\/p>\n
\u201cLast night, after enjoying a great dinner with my wife and our dear friend, the paparazzi harassed us as we walked back to our hotel,\u201d he wrote on March 27, 2022. <\/p>\n
\u201cI clearly overreacted. I\u2019ve been in this game long enough to know that their antics are sadly part of the deal. Stupid of me. Done.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
