In the fourth iOS 17.5 beta, <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/04\/30\/ios-17-5-repair-state-find-my-iphone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>9to5Mac<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2024\/04\/30\/ios-17-5-repair-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>MacRumors<\/em><\/a> found that Apple is planning to introduce a new \u201cRepair State\u201d mode that keeps the anti-theft measures on while your iPhone is getting fixed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Apple and many authorized repair providers currently ask you to turn off Find My when you\u2019re getting your iPhone repaired. It has this requirement to \u201cprevent anyone else from getting service for your device without your knowledge,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/109519#:~:text=*To%20prevent%20anyone%20else%20from,My%20isn&#039;t%20turned%20off.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Apple\u2019s support page<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">But turning off Find My got a little more tricky with the introduction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/1\/22\/24047063\/iphone-ios-17-3-update-stolen-device-protection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stolen Device Protection<\/a>. When enabled, this feature forces you to wait one hour before performing certain actions, like turning off Find My. That isn\u2019t too convenient if you forget to turn off Find My before you arrive at the Apple Store for a repair.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">The new Repair State option should change this. As pointed out by <em>9to5Mac<\/em>, it will let you confirm that your phone is getting repaired by entering your Apple ID and password. You can then continue to track your phone from other devices.
