Days after it was revealed<\/a> that her new book includes a graphic account of her killing a pet dog (and goat), South Dakota governor Kristi Noem<\/strong> has doubled down on having committed pooch-icide, claiming the story is evidence that she\u2019s an \u201cauthentic\u201d leader.<\/p>\n Taking to X following deafening backlash\u2014she was dubbed \u201cevil<\/a>,\u201d \u201ctrash<\/a>,\u201d and \u201cJeffrey Dahmer<\/a> with veneers<\/a>,\u201d among other things\u2014Noem wrote<\/a> Sunday that she \u201ccan understand why some people are upset about a 20 year old story of Cricket, one of the working dogs at our ranch.\u201d She included the bizarre anecdote, though, because she believes \u201cpeople are looking for leaders who are authentic, willing to learn from the past, and don\u2019t shy away from tough challenges,\u201d i.e., shooting their own dog.
