Sophia Bush <\/strong><\/a>and Bethany Joy Lenz<\/strong><\/a> still can\u2019t get over the iconic One Tree Hill<\/em><\/a> heart-eating dog scene, just like Us<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the episode we get talked about \u2026 Well, I don\u2019t wanna say, \u2018Talked about the most for,\u2019 but I\u2019ll say, \u2018made fun of the most for,\u2019\u201d Bush, 41, recalled on the Monday, April 29, episode of the \u201cDrama Queens\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cYeah, a dog eats a heart and everything is insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lenz, 43, noted that there were \u201ca lot of really poignant and meaningful moments\u201d in the episode, but there were also \u201cjust bizarre\u201d ones specifically with the dog.<\/p>\n

\u201cI liked it, I think, overall,\u201d Lenz reflected. \u201cI\u2019m just thinking about this now. If the dog eating the heart in the hospital was not in the episode, do I like this episode? And I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt\u2019s hard to look back at teen dramas without remembering One Tree Hill, and decades later fans are still talking about its explosive cast. The series, created by Mark Schwahn, aired for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012. It premiered on The WB then moved over to The CW in 2006 when The WB was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During episode 18 of season 6, Dan Scott (Paul Johansson<\/strong>) awaited a heart transplant in a hospital. While in the waiting room, a medical professional carrying the organ in a cooler tripped and fell, which led the heart to fly across the floor. Within seconds, a dog \u2014 who was high \u2014 ran over and ate the heart in a case of the munchies.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s the thing: there has to be a way for Dan to not get the heart,\u201d Bush said. \u201cThe extreme choice of having a dog that\u2019s eaten pounds of weed \u2014 so it\u2019s high and hungry \u2014 eat the heart is, you know, a choice that was made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bush noted that the scene was \u201cso silly,\u201d saying, \u201cIt, like, pulled me out because I was like, \u2018Why is it in a lunch box? Why isn\u2019t it sealed? It should be hermetically sealed or whatever the term is for so it doesn\u2019t get contaminated.\u2019 All of the little things where I was like, it\u2019s so far-fetched that I can\u2019t stop asking questions instead of actually watching the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cBut then I did have to wonder, is that because we\u2019ve been ridiculed for this for a decade and a half and so we are just ready to hate it? I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the words of the great Peyton Sawyer, sometimes all you need is one \u2014 but it may take a while to get there. The characters on One Tree Hill were in countless love triangles, went on romantic excursions and even got married in high school. In real life, things weren\u2019t always so magical. Although [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lenz agreed with Bush, adding that the \u201cmistake\u201d that was made was \u201cnot building [the scene] up enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we had started on the medic who was, whatever, coming in from a bender the night before and didn\u2019t seal the thing up properly, and we followed the case \u2026 if they had actually come up with plausible explanations \u2026 if we saw why the heart was the perfect storm, it really would\u2019ve actually paid off I think,\u201d Lenz said, before adding, \u201cThere were ways they could\u2019ve improved that, but [it] didn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
