Matty Healy\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> mom, Denise Welch<\/strong>, weighed in on the release of Taylor Swift\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> new album, The Tortured Poets Department<\/em>, which includes several songs speculated to be about her son.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t aware she had an album out at all,\u201d Denise, 65, joked while appearing on Loose Women<\/em><\/a>, a talk show in the U.K. \u201cI haven\u2019t heard anything about it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Her sarcastic response got a laugh from the show\u2019s hosts and the actress eventually jumped in to add, \u201cAnyway, I wish [Taylor] all the best.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Taylor, 34, and Matty, 35, briefly dated in the spring of 2023 following her breakup from Joe Alwyn<\/strong>. Many songs on TTPD<\/em> seem to reference<\/a> the heartbreak she experienced after their relationship ended. \u201cYou tried to buy some pills from a friend of friends of mine, they just ghosted you, now you know what it feels like,\u201d she sings on one track<\/a> called \u201cThe Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,\u201d seemingly insinuating that Matty ended the romance unexpectedly and without a conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n In the song\u2019s chorus, she adds, \u201cI don\u2019t even want you back, I just want to know if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal.\u201d Since the exes were together right before summer started, this lyric gives more insight into the song likely being about Matty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Despite being heartbroken following back-to-back breakups, Taylor was on the road for her Eras tour all summer long in 2023. She sings about having to perform while being \u201cmiserable and nobody even knows\u201d on the track \u201cI Can Do It With a Broken Heart.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The song features lyrics like, \u201cCause I\u2019m a real tough kid, I can handle my s\u2013t, they said, \u2018Baby, gotta fake it \u2018til you make it,\u2019 and I did,\u201d and, \u201cBreaking down, I hit the floor, all the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting, \u2018More!\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the singer has moved on with Travis Kelce<\/strong>, whom she started dating after he gave her a shout-out on his podcast in July 2023. When she released The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> on April 19, the pop star confirmed that she had already moved on from the chapter that she sings about on the album.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis period of the author\u2019s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up,\u201d she shared. \u201cThere is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them were self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Matty also seems to be in a good place and had nothing but kind words<\/a> when asked about the album on Wednesday, April 24. \u201cI haven\u2019t really listened to that much of it,\u201d he admitted. \u201cI\u2019m sure it\u2019s good.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
