Prince William<\/strong><\/a> proved there is still laughter at home amid wife Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s cancer battle<\/a>. He shared their daughter Princess Charlotte<\/a>\u2018s \u201cfavorite joke at the moment\u201d with a group of students during a royal visit on Thursday, April 25.<\/p>\n William, 41, made his first solo trip outside of London<\/a> to meet with kids from the St. Michael\u2019s Church of England High School in Birmingham, England, to discuss mental health. He was asked to produce a \u201cdad joke,\u201d but opted to share a knock-knock joke from his little girl, as it would help the kids \u201cinteract\u201d with him.<\/p>\n The future monarch started the knock-knock with the words, \u201cinterrupting cow.\u201d Before the students were able to ask, \u201cInterrupting cow who?\u201d William let out a loud, \u201cMoo!\u201d<\/a> to a round of laughter.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s one I hear a lot at home,\u201d William said of how Charlotte, 8, loves the humor, adding that there might be more spicy jokes between him and Kate, 42. \u201cThat\u2019s the only one I can think of that\u2019s clean and broadcastable,\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n The heir to the British throne made his first solo public royal appearance<\/a> since Kate\u2019s cancer diagnosis on April 18, however, he remained close to the family\u2019s home at Windsor\u2019s Adelaide Cottage.<\/p>\n William toured a surplus food distribution charity called Surplus to Supper in Surrey, southwest of London, then traveled to a youth center in \u200bWest London where the goods were delivered.<\/p>\n At the first location, one of the workers gave the prince get-well cards for both Kate and King Charles III<\/strong>, who is also battling cancer<\/a>. He told the volunteer, \u201cYou\u2019re very kind. Thank you very much.\u201d She asked the royal to \u201clook after\u201d his ailing wife, as William sweetly promised, \u201cI will.\u201d<\/p>\n The Princess of Wales announced in a video on March 22 that after undergoing major abdominal surgery in January that left her out of the public eye during 2024, \u201ctests after the operation found cancer had been present<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,\u201d she told viewers while sitting alone on a bench in her backyard.<\/p>\n Kate said the diagnosis came as a \u201chuge shock\u201d her and William and that \u201cit has taken us time to explain everything\u201d to their children \u2013 Prince George, Charlotte and Prince Louis \u2013 \u201cin a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I\u2019m going to be OK.\u201d<\/p>\n The family then headed to their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, England, during their children\u2019s spring break from school. William was spotted at a local pub with his mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, while he took Prince George, 10, to an Aston Villa soccer match<\/a> on April 11 in Birmingham, England.<\/p>\n The \u200bmonarch-in-waiting returned to public appearances upon the family\u2019s return to Windsor, when the kids headed back to classes on April 17.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
