During the\u00a0Clueless\u00a0<\/i><\/a>reunion panel at 90s Con 2023<\/a>, Breckin Meyer<\/strong> <\/a>opened up about the death of his late costar, Brittany Murphy<\/a>, 14 years after her tragic passing<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe one thing that really bummed [me out] about Brittany not being here [is thinking about] what she\u2019d be doing now because of how talented she was,\u201d the 48-year-old\u00a0Good Girls<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>alum said during the cast\u2019s convention panel<\/a> on Sunday, March 19, which was attended by Us Weekly<\/i>. \u201cBrittany could sing like nobody\u2019s business, and I look at things like [how] they\u2019re doing the movie Wicked\u00a0<\/i>now<\/a>. I hear about that, [and I know] Brittany would be killing this stuff right now<\/a>. You know, [projects like]\u00a0West Side Story<\/i><\/a>, all that stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n Meyer,\u00a0who played Travis Birkenstock in 1995\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>Clueless<\/a>, <\/i>added: \u201cThe [tough part] is, like, we all don\u2019t get to see the incredible work she was gonna do, which sucks.\u201d<\/p>\n Murphy, who played\u00a0<\/i>new girl Tai in the iconic \u201990s flick, died in December 2009 at the age of 32<\/a>. Her death \u2014 which was ruled as \u201caccidental\u201d \u2014 was a result of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication<\/a>.<\/p>\n Following her tragic passing, her\u00a0Clueless\u00a0<\/i>pals have frequently been candid about her enduring legacy<\/a>, including Meyer.<\/p>\n \u201c10 years ago this magical, fantabulous angel left us WAY too early. So crazy talented & the sweetest lil fairy ya ever could meet,\u201d the\u00a0Franklin & Bash\u00a0<\/i>alum, who played the\u00a0Uptown Girls\u00a0<\/i>star\u2019s love interest in\u00a0Clueless<\/i>, tweeted in December 2019<\/a>. \u201cFull Disclosure: Travis kisses Tai on the head because Brit was always like a lil sister to me. Missing Brit lots today.\u201d<\/p>\n During Sunday\u2019s panel, Meyer \u2014 who was joined by costars Alicia Silverstone<\/strong><\/a>, Stacey Dash<\/strong><\/a> and Elisa Donovan<\/strong> <\/a>\u2014 revealed that he had known Murphy \u201cforever\u201d prior to their\u00a0Clueless\u00a0<\/i>audition<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSo Brit and I played boyfriend and girlfriend in a couple things [before\u00a0Clueless<\/i>],\u201d the\u00a0Ghosts of Girlfriends Past\u00a0<\/i>actor recalled during the convention, which was held at the Hartford Convention Center in Connecticut. \u201cI was tight with someone who played her big sister on a sitcom and I had no job, so I was around the set a lot [and] so I played Brittany\u2019s boyfriend there. We were tight already<\/a> [when we got the\u00a0Clueless\u00a0<\/i>roles].\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cWhen I auditioned, it was nice because any time you audition with someone you know,<\/a> you\u2019re just like, \u2018One box, I can check: Comfortable.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Meyer, who arrived via skateboard to meet director Amy Heckerling<\/strong> <\/a>at his\u00a0Clueless\u00a0<\/i>callback, noted the roles of Travis and Tai nearly went to his pal Seth Green<\/strong> <\/a>and his then-girlfriend, Alanna Ubach<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was just kind of one of [us or] the other,\u201d the\u00a0Garfield: The Movie\u00a0<\/i>star added. \u201cIt was between the two couples<\/a> and luckily [Seth and Alanna are] not together anymore. So it worked out! But, yeah, when I saw Brittany [audition], I [thought], \u2018I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m gonna get the part, but obviously, if you don\u2019t make a movie with her<\/a>, don\u2019t make the movie,\u2019 she\u2019s that great.
