The late \u2018Starman\u2019 singer \u2013\u00a0real name David Robert Jones \u2013\u00a0who died aged 69 in 2016 from liver cancer, stunned fans with his flame-haired, \u201candrogynous alien\u201d look in the 1970s, and the woman who created it has now lifted the lid on how he ended up persuading her to sleep with him despite her feeling \u201cshame\u201d they were doing it behind the back of his then-wife Angie Bowie<\/a>, 74.<\/p>\n

Suzi Ronson, also 74, says in her newly-released memoir \u2018Me and Mr Jones: My Life with David Bowie<\/a> and the Spiders from Mars\u2019 about the moment David wooed her on the way back to the grand ground-floor flat he shared with Angie at the Haddon Hall mansion building: \u201cTonight I meet a different David, charming and sweet, and before I know it his arm is around my waist and we\u2019re out the door, in his car and on our way to London.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s easier going than I think; David seems interested in what I have<\/p>\n

to say and he puts me at ease.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cHe turns to me (in the driveway of Haddon Hall) as the car engine goes silent, and we sit in the dark until he says: \u2018Well, Suzi, are you coming in?\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI know, I could get in my car and go home, but part of me is curious. I\u2019m not that attracted to him, but as he holds my eyes, the distance between us closes and suddenly he\u2019s kissing me.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cIt\u2019s a rush, the passion rises, and before I know what I\u2019m doing I\u2019m in the house and in his bedroom.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDavid then told Suzi he would have fun telling his wife Angie \u2013 with whom he had an open marriage \u2013 about their affair.<\/p>\n

\nThe stylist added: \u201cShame washes over me. How can I face Angie? <\/p>\n

\n\u201c\u2018She\u2019ll understand,\u2019 (David) says, seeing my reaction. <\/p>\n

\n\u2018She expects it \u2013 we have an understanding; it\u2019d be worse if I didn\u2019t tell her.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\nWhen David also assured Suzi he and Angie regularly compared notes about their conquests, she said she thought: \u201cI hope I get a good report.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
