Sydney Sweeney’s former acting coach has leapt to her defence<\/p>\n
\nScott Sedita – who helped train the 26-year-old star at the beginning of her career at his own Scott Sedita Acting Studios – has defended the ‘Euphoria’ actress after veteran Hollywood producer Carol Baum slated her looks and acting.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to TMZ, he said: “Sydney is beautiful because she has inner depth, intellect, compassion, style and facial features – eyes, smile, cheekbones – that the camera angles pick up on.<\/p>\n
\n“The camera loves her ‘look’ as well as the audience. Audiences love her because she\u2019s relatable and approachable.”<\/p>\n
\nScott backed Sydney to shrug off the criticism, while praising her ability to take “feedback” on board.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “She\u2019s been through the ups and downs of this business. So you have to be pretty much a serious actress if you\u2019re gonna go through all that.<\/p>\n
\n“When taking feedback or critique, she processes it, uses her acting technique and makes the adjustment.”<\/p>\n
\nCarol \u2013 now an acting teacher and member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, whose producing credits include \u2018Father of the Bride\u2019 \u2013 hit out at a Sydney on Tuesday following a screening of her 1998 horror-drama film \u2018Dead Ringers\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThere\u2019s an actress who everybody loves now \u2013 Sydney Sweeney,<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney\u2019s movie (\u2018Anyone But You\u2019) because I wanted to watch it. I wanted to know who she is and why everybody\u2019s talking about her.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCarol, who teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, went on to brand the comedy \u201cunwatchable\u201d and said she asked her students to explain to her why Sydney was considered \u201cso hot\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI said to my class, \u2018Explain this girl to me. She\u2019s not pretty, she can\u2019t act. Why is she so hot?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNobody had an answer but then the question was asked, \u2018Well, if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI said, \u2018Well that\u2019s a really good question\u2026 that\u2019s a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.’\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn a statement, Sydney’s representative responded: “How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf that\u2019s what she\u2019s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that\u2019s shameful.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
