The Bachelorette<\/em> alum Tyler Cameron<\/strong><\/a> feels strongly about The Golden Bachelor<\/em> <\/a>stars Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> and Theresa Nist<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s split.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have put a true stain on love in the Bachelor world,\u201d Tyler, 31, who was the runner-up during Hannah Brown<\/strong>\u2019s season of The Bachelorette<\/em> in 2019, said during a Wednesday, April 17, appearance on SiriusXM\u2019s The Happy Hour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree months? They make all my relationships seem very long,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m a dating expert compared to them. They put a stain on love and Bachelor Nation because it was the most wholesome \u2014 like it brought so much joy back to The Bachelor<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, announced their separation<\/a> during a Friday, April 12, appearance on Good Morning America<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGerry Turner and Theresa Nist were almost the first Golden Bachelor success story. Gerry got down on one knee and proposed to Teresa during the season 1 finale, which filmed in Costa Rica and aired in November 2023. \u201cWhen I woke up this morning, it was difficult. I had really mixed feelings, and I got [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cTheresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we\u2019ve looked closely at our situation \u2014 our living situation \u2014 and we\u2019ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it\u2019s time for us to dissolve our marriage,\u201d Gerry said on the morning talk show.<\/p>\n

That same day, Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed that Gerry filed for divorce<\/a> citing \u201cirreconcilable differences.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former couple met on the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor<\/em>, which premiered in September 2023. They tied the knot<\/a> during a live televised wedding ceremony in January. Tyler said on Wednesday that Gerry and Theresa\u2019s love story was refreshing compared to \u201cpeople who wanted to go on [Bachelor Nation shows] just to be influencers.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThen they just pulled the rug right out from under us [like], \u2018Nope. We don\u2019t wanna live near each other.\u2019 Crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerry, who lives in Indiana, and Theresa, who lives in New Jersey, didn\u2019t move in together<\/a> after their nuptials. During a joint appearance on the \u201cDear Shandy\u201d podcast in March, which was their last interview as a couple, Gerry and Theresa opened up about their conflict over where to settle down.<\/p>\n

There are several pairings still going strong from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, but the majority of the duos who meet on the reality TV shows go their separate ways before they walk down the aisle. And while some consider Marcus [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cRight now, it\u2019s a long-distance relationship, essentially. [When] we decide on a place to really live, then I can really make a big decision to say, \u2018OK, we\u2019re going to live in this place or that place,\u2019\u201d Theresa said. \u201cOriginally, it was South Carolina. We\u2019re still not sure if that\u2019s what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerry chimed in to share his feelings about Theresa continuing to work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess the difficult part is I went on to the show to find my partner, and I\u2019ve been retired for a long time. I wanted fun [and] adventure. I wanted to go do [things],\u201d he explained. \u201cSo, that is the crux of it right now is, when does that start? I think the living arrangement is really secondary to the freedom of being able to go and enjoy life and do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tyler, for his part, has a \u201ctheory\u201d about why Gerry and Theresa were unable to compromise on lifestyle and location. He compared the twosome to his \u201csingle\u201d dad who has become \u201cset in his ways\u201d as he ages.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can\u2019t find anyone that wants to deal with the stuff he does,\u201d Tyler said of his father. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t want to change much either. I imagine Gerry and Teresa \u2026 don\u2019t want to change their ways. \u2026 It\u2019s just two stubborn old people, and when you get older, you get more stubborn.\u201d<\/p>\n
