TikTok has started rolling out its Instagram rival, TikTok Notes, to select Android and iOS users \u201cfor download and limited testing in Australia and Canada.\u201d A tweet announcing the launch<\/a>, as well as the App Store<\/a> and Google Play<\/a> listings, showed off some official images of the app that offer insights about how it works for those of us who don\u2019t have access yet. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n In them, we see that you can write up headlines for images above your captions, which is a feature Instagram doesn\u2019t natively offer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The homepage also seems to be divided into two sections, with a separate page where you can view posts from people you follow and another \u201cFor You\u201d page. It\u2019s organized a bit like Pinterest\u2019s homepage but with a smaller, two-column grid. It\u2019s not clear whose posts are highlighted here, but it\u2019s likely accounts similar to the ones you follow TikTok thinks you might like.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Besides these small tweaks, though, the app is very similar to Instagram, which is a change from the usual. For years, Meta\u2019s been the one copying other social media platforms like TikTok with Reels<\/a> and Snapchat with Stories. With TikTok Notes, though, TikTok looks like it\u2019s copying back.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n TikTok announced<\/a> the new photo-sharing app earlier this month via a\u00a0notification<\/a>\u00a0sent to users<\/a>. At the time, it didn\u2019t provide many details about the app beyond calling it TikTok Notes and suggested TikTok would populate it with users\u2019 existing and future public TikTok photo posts unless they opt out.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It\u2019s uncertain when TikTok will roll the app out to the US and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
