The late NFL running back, who died aged 76 from prostate cancer in Las Vegas on April 10, was acquitted of the pair\u2019s 1994 knife murders, but after he was cleared Simpson bizarrely went on to publish a quasi-confessional memoir titled \u2018If I Did It\u2019 in which he imagined how the killings happened.<\/p>\n
Its most infamous chapter \u2018The Night In Question\u2019 which reimagines the murders is being spread online in the wake of his death.<\/p>\n
Simpson uses the section to describe calling at 35-year-old Nicole\u2019s Los Angeles home and confronting her and waiter Ron, 25, in order to \u201cscare that girl\u201d \u2013 before things go \u201chorribly wrong\u201d.<\/p>\n
The athlete-turned-actor then describes how he \u201cblacks out\u201d before regaining consciousness to find Nicole and Ron in pools of blood.<\/p>\n
\nIn yet another bizarre turn, Simpson\u2019s book says a friend called Charlie was also at the scene of the horror.<\/p>\n
\nCharlie has never been identified \u2013 with many thinking he was fictional.<\/p>\n
\nSimpson says in the book \u2013 which was ghostwritten with the help of 70-year-old screenwriter Pablo Fenjves, who penned the movie \u2018Man on a Ledge\u2019: \u201cI know what happened, but I can\u2019t exactly tell you how.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI know what you\u2019re thinking: \u2018Everybody\u2019s innocent! The prisons are filled with guys who didn\u2019t do (anything)!\u2019, but that\u2019s my point.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHalf of you think I did it, and nothing will ever make you change your minds.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe other half know I didn\u2019t do it, and all the evidence in the world\u2013planted or otherwise \u2013 isn\u2019t going to sway you, either.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSimpson\u2019s infamous memoir had its title changed by Ron\u2019s family to make it look as if he was admitting to killing the pair.<\/p>\n
\nHis relatives were handed the rights to the book by a Florida bankruptcy court after a civil trial found Simpson liable for the deaths of Nicole and Ron in a civil case brought after he was cleared in criminal court.<\/p>\n
\nIt was part of the $33.5 million wrongful death settlement against Simpson \u2013 and the Goldman family re-released the book under the new title: \u2018If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer\u2019, with the \u2018If\u2019 in a different font to make it seem as if it was an admission of guilt by Simpson.<\/p>\n
\nThe Goldmans said a portion of the proceeds would go to the non-profit Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice they set up in the wake of his murder.<\/p>\n
\nThe book reached No2 on The New York Times bestseller list after its publication, and Ron\u2019s sister Kim said at the time she wasn\u2019t surprised about the book being successful because \u201cpeople have a morbid curiosity\u201d about the murders of her brother and Nicole.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
