Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> nearly gave American Idol<\/em><\/a> viewers quite a show when her top snapped off during a live season 22 episode. The singer gave a behind-the-scenes look at the saga on social media after the Monday, April 15, taping.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy top broke are you watching,\u201d Katy, 39, wrote on X<\/a>, along with a photo of three people trying to fasten the ensemble. In a second image, the \u201cRoar\u201d hitmaker held a pillow up in front of her chest and revealed, \u201cBroke again.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There was also a video that gave more insight into what went down. \u201cI need my top to stay on,\u201d Katy told the camera, as handlers fussed with the back of her shirt. \u201cIf it\u2019s not fixed, this show is gonna get more than it wanted.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n broke again. #idol<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/sIQTQu2IJB<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 KATY PERRY (@katyperry) April 16, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Fellow judge Luke Bryan<\/strong> took one of the tools and jumped up to help. \u201cI got this,\u201d he assured Katy. However, when he took a look at her complicated shirt, he changed his mind. \u201cNever mind,\u201d the country singer, 47, decided.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Katy\u2019s social media video then flashed forward to the footage that actually aired during the episode, which showed her holding her shirt up after one contestant\u2019s performance. \u201cThat song broke my top off!\u201d she gushed. As she sunk down to hide herself beneath the judges\u2019 table, Luke joked, \u201cRatings! Here we come, ratings!\u201d and Lionel Richie<\/strong> added, \u201cI love ratings.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Grammy nominee previously suffered another American Idol<\/em> wardrobe malfunction<\/a> during the April 1 episode. She revealed on social media that the dress she was wearing was so tight that she couldn\u2019t get it off. \u201cWe can cut it off,\u201d someone told Katy. That wasn\u2019t a helpful response for the \u201cDaisies\u201d singer, though, as she replied, \u201cYou can\u2019t just cut Bottega!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She reiterated this in the caption, adding, \u201cWe\u2019ve been cutting kids on #idol but you can\u2019t cut Bottega.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After seven seasons as a judge on the singing competition show, Katy announced earlier this year that she would be stepping away<\/a> once season 22 ends. \u201cI love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music,\u201d she explained. However, she didn\u2019t shut down the possibility of returning in the future. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ll come back if they\u2019ll have me one day,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n Luke and Lionel, 74, have not announced their plans for the future yet.
