It has been hard to find physical copies of director Michael Lindsay-Hogg\u2019s 1970 Beatles documentary Let It Be <\/em>in the years since its theatrical release, but Disney Plus<\/a> is getting ready to debut a remastered version of the film.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Disney Plus announced today that Let It Be <\/em>\u2014 a chronicle of the Beatles recording their Let It Be <\/em>album in 1969 before breaking up the following year \u2014 will stream on May 8th. Like the docuseries The Beatles: Get Back<\/em><\/a>, Let It Be <\/em>will feature original film footage remastered by Peter Jackson\u2019s Park Road Post Production and remastered audio created using the same de-mixing tools that recently led to the release of the Beatles\u2019 final song<\/a>. In a statement about Let It Be<\/em>\u2019s streaming premiere, Lindsay-Hogg recalled how the band\u2019s breakup \u201cvery much darkened the perception of the film\u201d when it first hit theaters and said he was moved to sign off on the rerelease after being \u201cknocked out\u201d by Jackson\u2019s work on Get Back.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jackson added that he was \u201cabsolutely thrilled\u201d to see the new project come together and described Let It Be <\/em>and Get Back <\/em>as \u201cone epic story, finally completed after five decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe two projects support and enhance each other,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cLet It Be<\/em> is the climax of Get Back<\/em>, while Get Back <\/em>provides a vital missing context for Let It Be<\/em>.\u00a0Michael Lindsay-Hogg was unfailingly helpful and gracious while I made Get Back <\/em>and it\u2019s only right that his original movie has the last word…looking and sounding far better than it did in 1970.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
