Matthew McConaughey<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about how being a father has impacted his career.<\/p>\n The 54-year-old actor shares three children with his wife Camila Alves<\/strong><\/a>: Levi<\/strong><\/a>, 15, Vida<\/strong><\/a>, 14, and Livingston<\/strong><\/a>, 11.<\/p>\n Matthew<\/strong> recently explained how he believes fatherhood has made him a better actor.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHaving children I know has made me a better artist and has made me a better actor, because kids see things for the first time all the time. Their questions are innocent,\u201d he told People<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI become a better storyteller because I have kids, meaning, I come home from work on something like True Detective<\/em>, and my 4-year-old kid goes, \u2018What\u2019d you do today?\u2019 I cannot tell them what the show\u2019s really about, it\u2019s not age-appropriate. So I have to go into a parable for them.\u201d<\/p>\n The star described how the nature of his projects made him get creative around his children.<\/p>\n \u201cI had to become a better storyteller to tell my kids about a good guy, a bad guy and a monster in this, to tell them the parable of the story I was in.\u201d<\/p>\n Matthew<\/strong> explained that he eventually realized he had never worked on a movie or TV show that was appropriate for kids.<\/p>\n \u201cAs you become a parent, what do you end up watching? You end up watching mostly what your kids are watching, and so I was like, \u2018Man, I\u2019ve never been a part of an animated film,\u2019 and I like doing voice work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The Interstellar<\/em> actor went on to star in the 2016 animated film Sing<\/em> and its sequel in 2021, providing the perfect opportunity for his three children to experience his work!<\/p>\n \u201cThey thought it was really cool,\u201d Matthew<\/strong> shared. \u201cI remember sitting at the premiere with them listening and going, \u2018Hey, that sounds like\u2026\u2019 and they had that moment where they look at the screen and audio, and then look at me sitting next to them and do the math.
