Natasha Burnett<\/strong> and Viv Leacock<\/strong> connected instantly playing spouses on When Calls the Heart<\/em><\/a>, and her bond with their TV children has become just as special.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the beginning, I think I was just trying to make them feel really comfortable,\u201d Burnett exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> of her onscreen kids, while promoting her and Leacock\u2019s new Hallmark movie, Legend of the Lost Locket<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Burnett, who plays Minnie Canfield on the Hallmark Channel series<\/a>, recalled having a lot of scenes with Angela Canfield (played by Vienna Leacock<\/strong>) when she joined the cast in season 8, which aired in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to make sure that she felt like, \u2018OK, well if Viv has gone back to his trailer and she needs to ask a question, don\u2019t feel like you can\u2019t ask me, and I\u2019ll try and help,\u2019\u201d Burnett remembered.<\/p>\n

In the series, Minnie and Joseph Canfield (Viv) are the parents of Angela (Vienna) and Cooper (Elias Leacock<\/strong>). Although Burnett and Viv are not married in real life, Viv is the father<\/a> of both Vienna and Elias off camera. (Viv, 49, shares his daughter and son, as well as a second son named Lennox, with wife Divina Leacock<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI think because Viv was so comfortable with me, they got quite comfortable with me,\u201d Burnett told Us<\/em> of her onscreen family. \u201cI feel like the fun aunt. I dunno if it\u2019s fun, but I feel like the aunt.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress called Viv a \u201cprotective father,\u201d who often wonders, \u201cWhere\u2019s Elias gone?\u201d and Burnett has taken on the \u201cfun aunt\u201d role, so she responds, \u201cYeah, he\u2019s fine. He\u2019s rolling around in the grass or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Viv couldn\u2019t agree more, exclusively telling Us<\/em> that Burnett was \u201cadopted a long time ago\u201d into his real brood. \u201cBoth Vienna and Elias and for my wife, Davina, and my other son Lennox, everybody loves Natasha,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019s another member of the family now. We\u2019ve adopted her.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to his own relationship with Vienna and Elias on set, Viv explained that after their season 8 \u201clearning curve\u201d they\u2019ve become pros. \u201cThese kids walk around, \u2018Hey, what\u2019s going on, dad?\u2019 It\u2019s all good. [There\u2019s] no problems at all. And it blows me away to watch that,\u201d Viv explained, calling his daughter \u201crock solid\u201d as an actress.<\/p>\n

Viv continued: \u201cShe\u2019s always on point. She\u2019s like, \u2018Dad, you need to look at your sides more. You need to look at your script more, so you don\u2019t drop any lines.\u2019 [I\u2019m] like, \u2018Yes, Vienna.\u2019 She keeps me going straight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHallmark Channel\u2019s longest-running series, When Calls the Heart, is gearing up for its season 11 return. The 12-episode installment, which premieres on Sunday, April 7, will pick up at the conclusion of season 10 which saw Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) breaking off her engagement to Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) after he had just been elected [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The element of family is also front and center for the Canfields on WCTH<\/em>, which began season 11 earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinnie this year, she definitely has a few more irons in the fire. I think she heads a couple more projects and comes up with a few more ideas,\u201d Natasha teased of her character\u2019s story arc. \u201cAnd then of course, there\u2019s always a family matter that comes into play, and there\u2019s something that initially starts with the kids that then sort of flows out into some of Joseph\u2019s family members.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minnie\u2019s role is to \u201chelp heal old wounds,\u201d Burnett explained, while Viv told Us<\/em>\u00a0Minnie and Joseph will in fact \u201cmeet some new family\u201d this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had some new folks come onto the show, [who] did an incredible job,\u201d he revealed. \u201cThere\u2019s some trajectories of characters that are going to be altered because of some cast that we have coming on. That\u2019s all I can say<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
