Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> and Theresa Nist<\/strong><\/a>, the inaugural Golden Bachelor <\/i><\/a>couple, sent shockwaves through the franchise on Friday, April 12, when they confirmed their plans to divorce<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many faithful Bachelor Nation fans have since taken to social media to express their shock, sadness and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish them all the very best,\u201d Susan Noles<\/strong>, one of Gerry\u2019s Golden Bachelor<\/i> castoffs who officiated the wedding<\/a>, wrote in the comments of Us Weekly<\/i>\u2019s post<\/a> about the announcement on Friday, April 12.<\/p>\n

Others noted, \u201cMy goodness \ud83d\ude31<\/span>\u201d and \u201cThis is a total joke cancel this show already.\u201d<\/p>\n

A separate fan joked about the duration of the quickie marriage, writing, \u201cI still have milk in the fridge from when this was on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, met on season 1 of The Golden Bachelor<\/i> and got engaged during the finale, which aired in September 2023. They wed four months later in a January ceremony in California that was broadcast live on ABC.<\/p>\n

After their breakup news rocked Bachelor Nation, another Instagram user questioned the status of their three-month marriage. \u201cThey never even lived in the same state, did they? These shows are so creepy,\u201d the Instagram comment read.<\/p>\n

TMZ reported earlier this month that Theresa and Gerry were living separately<\/a>, with the retired restaurateur residing at his lake house in Indiana instead of with his bride in New Jersey. A source subsequently confirmed to Us <\/i>that they were navigating a long-distance marriage, often visiting one another, as Theresa\u2019s job is still based in the Garden State.<\/p>\n

While announcing their breakup<\/a> on Good Morning America, <\/i>Theresa revealed what happened with their house-hunting plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,\u201d she said on the Friday broadcast.<\/p>\n

Despite choosing to end their marriage, Gerry and Theresa assert that they are \u201cbest friends\u201d but a divorce is for the best.<\/p>\n
