Yellowstone<\/em><\/a> fans have been waiting since 2022 for the second half of the series\u2019 last season. Now, sources exclusively tell Life & Style<\/em> that Kevin Costner<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who reportedly left the hit western after butting heads with creator Taylor Sheridan<\/strong> \u2014 wants to give his character, John Dutton, a proper send-off.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019d like to close the series properly so he can move on and feel good about it,\u201d says an insider.<\/p>\n The 69-year-old\u2019s return is no sure thing, however. According to the insider, Kevin not only ticked off Taylor, 53, but also his castmates when he demanded more money and a lighter schedule. \u201cA lot of the cast and crew blame Kevin for getting the show canceled,\u201d notes the insider. \u201cIt might have gone on another season or two if he hadn\u2019t made such a stink.\u201d<\/p>\n Not only that, but scripts would have to be reworked to include him. Still, Taylor may cave, says the insider. \u201cHe\u2019ll do what\u2019s best for Yellowstone.\u201d<\/p>\n Kevin has starred as John in Yellowstone<\/em> since 2018. However, it was rumored in February 2023 that the Field of Dreams<\/em> actor was planning to leave the show<\/a> due to disputes over his shooting schedule. The network denied the speculation in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cKevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone<\/em> and we hope that\u2019s the case for a long time to come,\u201d a spokesperson told Deadline<\/em>.<\/p>\n Paramount later confirmed in May 2023 that the series would end after season 5. The second half of the season has been plagued by production delays due to the writers and SAG-AFTRA strikes, so there is still no premiere date for the final episodes, but they are expected in November of this year. In any event, Kevin has expressed interest<\/a> in participating in the show\u2019s conclusion.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d like to be able to do it but we haven\u2019t been able to,\u201d he told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> on April 9. \u201cI thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we\u2019re at five. So how it works out \u2013 I hope it does \u2013 but they\u2019ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me.\u201d<\/p>\n Kevin concluded, \u201cIf it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I\u2019d love to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, if the Dances With Wolves<\/em> star is to return to Yellowstone<\/em>, his castmates might not welcome him with open arms. A source exclusively told Life & Style<\/em> in March that costars Cole Hauser<\/strong>, Luke Grimes<\/strong>, Kelly Reilly<\/strong>, Wes Bentley<\/strong> and others iced him out after his dispute with Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe used to hear from Cole and the rest of the gang \u2014 but they\u2019ve cut him loose in the months since he walked away from the show,\u201d the insider said. \u201cThey\u2019re making no effort to see him and don\u2019t get excited when he calls.
