Valerie Bertinelli<\/strong><\/a> is disappointed in many Food Network shows three months after the TV broadcast channel fired her from Kids Baking Championship<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI fell in love with Food Network two decades ago because of all the amazing ITK (in the kitchen) shows. 30-minute meals, Ina [Garten]<\/strong>, Giada [De Laurentiis]<\/strong> \u2026 the list goes on,\u201d Bertinelli, 63, wrote via Threads<\/a> on Tuesday, April 9. \u201cI learned so much. It\u2019s sad it\u2019s not about cooking and learning any longer. Oh well, that\u2019s just business, folks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bertinelli also agreed with cookbook author and food blogger Marlynn Schotland<\/strong>, who lamented via the platform that Food Network no longer has cooking shows and has switched to primarily making culinary competition programs.<\/p>\n

Schotland later clarified<\/a> that Food Network still has \u201ca few\u201d cooking shows and doesn\u2019t \u201cthink we need SO MANY new competition shows\u201d that are repetitive of each other.<\/p>\n

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the former Disney star chose to sharpen her skills alongside professional chefs and her loved ones. \u201cPeople who [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bertinelli, for her part, has a long history with Food Network. She hosted Valerie\u2019s Home Cooking <\/i>between 2015 and 2025, modernizing her favorite family recipes. She also served as a judge of Kids Baking Championship <\/i>for 12 seasons and was fired in January due to budget cuts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been avoiding facing what I got confirmation last night and I didn\u2019t want to talk about it last night [because] I wanted to sleep on it because it really hurt my feelings,\u201d she said in an Instagram video<\/a>. \u201cI know it\u2019s not supposed to. Logically, I know it\u2019s business [and] budget cuts, right? But it really hurt my feelings to know that I\u2019m not going to be asked back to be on Kids Baking Championship<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201c[That] was my apex year of hell, like, I was going through it and pretending everything was just fine. Because that\u2019s what you do! And without sounding like a drama queen, the show saved my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
