Stephen Colbert<\/a> and <\/span>Maren Morris<\/a> might need to take their act on the road! On Tuesday night’s <\/span>The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/span><\/em>, the 34-year-old country singer was a guest for the first time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Detailing one of her earliest singing gigs performing the national anthem at amateur wrestling competitions in Texas, Morris shared she’d performed “The Star Spangled Banner” acapella.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Could I sing the national anthem with you sometime?” 59-year-old Colbert asked her.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Sure,” she replied.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Because I know the baseline, I don’t know the melody. I think you and I could be rocking,” the late-night host mused.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The two stars then broke into an acapella duet, with Morris singing the melody and Colbert destroying the harmony.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Colbert’s impressive vocal stylings led Morris to look shocked throughout and even burst out laughing mid-way through. When they finished the track, “The Bones” singer asked Colbert, “Where did that come from?!”<\/span><\/p>\n Colbert grinned, telling Morris, “I want to sing that with you at an amateur wrestling competition\u2026 It’s always good to have a fallback, this job could go away tomorrow.”<\/span><\/p>\n In December,\u00a0<\/span>ET spoke with the “My Church” singer<\/a>, who hinted that music would take a bit of a backseat in 2024, as she worked through personal things and found a way to channel her latest chapter.<\/span><\/p>\n “There’s a lot of personal stuff right now I’m wading through, processing, writing through,” said Morris, whose last album,\u00a0<\/span>Humble Quest<\/span><\/i>, dropped in March 2022. “So, yeah, I’m giving myself the time to do that and not having to rush a very, huge personal thing through an album being delivered. So, yeah, it’s going to take a little bit longer than I had hoped, but I have to trust the process.”<\/span><\/p>\n Some of that “personal stuff” involved the 2023 split and subsequent divorce between Morris and Ryan Hurd.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
