Hoda Kotb<\/strong><\/a> took a break from Today<\/em><\/a> in the middle of celebrating five years of cohosting with Jenna Bush Hager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Kotb, 59, was absent from the first two hours of Today<\/em> on Wednesday, April 10, shortly before the latest episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna<\/em>. Savannah Guthrie<\/strong> joked Kotb was out \u201con assignment\u201d as third hour of Today<\/em> cohost Sheinelle Jones<\/strong> filled in.<\/p>\n

Guthrie, 52, later clarified that Kotb was not present because she was \u201con her way to New Orleans\u201d for Hoda & Jenna<\/em>\u2019s special fifth anniversary shows on Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12.<\/p>\n

Kotb and Bush Hager, 42, announced last month that they were taking their show to Louisiana to celebrate their cohosting milestone. \u201cThere\u2019s only one place we could celebrate,\u201d Bush Hager exclaimed during a March episode<\/a>, to which Kotb added, \u201cIt\u2019s the place where we have the most fun, where we are wild. We are wild when we go there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHoda Kotb has often gushed about how her loved ones have defined her life \u2014 especially her daughters, Haley and Hope. The Today anchor became a mother when she adopted her little ones in 2017 and 2019, respectively, with her then-partner, Joel Schiffman. The former couple got engaged after six years of dating in 2019 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The pair are set to kick off the city\u2019s 2024 French Quarter Fest music festival along with two lucky fans who won a special trip to join Kotb and Bush Hager for the festivities.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the hosting duo celebrated five years<\/a> since their first show together. \u201cHow does it feel for you, five years?\u201d Kotb asked Bush Hager on Monday, April 8.<\/p>\n

Bush Hager proceeded to gush over her colleague, saying, \u201cIt feels like it was yesterday, and it feels so profound to get to sit next to somebody that exudes joy no matter what you have going on. You greet me with a smile every single day, and I know it\u2019s not always easy. In fact, it\u2019s probably not easy at all. But you\u2019re here and you sit next to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bush took over the role of Kotb\u2019s cohost in April 2019 when Kathie Lee Gifford<\/strong> stepped down after 11 years on the fourth hour of Today<\/em>. Though they started as \u201ccolleagues [and] friends,\u201d Kotb said she was proud of how far her and Bush Hager\u2019s relationship has grown over the past few years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s such a deep understanding of the other\u2019s soul and purpose, we have traveled down these roads together,\u201d she explained. \u201cA lot of times, friendships don\u2019t grow. They are: you talk about the old days. Not ours.\u201d<\/p>\n
