Reese Witherspoon<\/strong><\/a>, Al Roker<\/strong><\/a> and Bunnie XO<\/strong> were just a few of the celebrities who took in the total solar eclipse.<\/p>\n

The celestial event, which occurred on Monday, April 8, was the first total eclipse visible in North America since August 2017. According to NASA<\/a>, \u201c99% of people who reside in the United States will be able to see the partial or total eclipse from where they live,\u201d including parts of Alaska and Hawaii.<\/p>\n

While millions of Americans patiently waited for the event, the ladies of The View<\/em><\/a> kicked off Monday\u2019s episode with a discussion about the craze over the eclipse, starting with a warning about looking into the sun without the proper eyewear.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will not be blinded by the lights unless you do something dumb like this,\u201d cohost Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong> began before a 2017 photo of former president Donald Trump<\/strong> staring at the eclipse without glasses flashed across the screen. \u201cToday\u2019s eclipse is apparently causing a nationwide frenzy with viewing parties and early school closures. Some folks [are] even warning that it\u2019s a sign from God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg, 68, continued, \u201cListen. Let\u2019s be really clear. Unless you know that the glasses you have are eclipse glasses, do not put them on to look at the sun \u2026 It will blind you. Don\u2019t do it!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can see sunshine, oh, baby!\u201d he said in the video. \u201cJust hang in there \u2013 a couple more hours, that\u2019s all we\u2019re asking.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate Instagram<\/a> post, Roker shared a sweet snap of his dog Pepper wearing a pair of eclipse glasses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror,\u201d she mouthed to the camera before putting on a pair of shades.<\/p>\n

She added<\/a> in the caption, \u201cReminder that NASA says that viewing the sun during the eclipse without the proper protection \u2018will instantly cause severe eye injury.\u2019 \ud83d\ude0e\u2600\ufe0f eclipse safely.\u201d<\/p>\n
