Jelly Roll<\/strong> <\/a>might be new to the country awards show scene, but he made a big impact on the 2024 CMT Awards<\/a> on Sunday, April 7.<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll, 39, was nominated for Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year, taking home the trophies for all three. To celebrate his musical achievements, he stepped out at Austin\u2019s Moody Center with wife Bunnie XO<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Throughout the awards ceremony, Jelly Roll also made it clear that he was a fan of everybody else by giving out free hugs, singing along to the performances and more.<\/p>\n

Host Kelsea Ballerini poked fun at awards show lip reading<\/a> from the Golden Globes and the Grammys by having CMT attendees narrate their inner monologues.<\/p>\n

Trust me,\u201d Ballerini explained<\/a>. \u201cYou may think you know what\u2019s going on in our heads, but you don\u2019t. So right now, we\u2019re going to find out what the stars in our audience are really thinking. That\u2019s right, we\u2019re reading minds in here.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Lainey Wilson<\/strong> and Chase Stokes<\/strong>, Ballerini\u2019s boyfriend, delivered their thoughts, it was Jelly Roll\u2019s turn.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow we all know, Mr. Angelo Rollingsworth [is my real name],\u201d the singer, whose legal moniker is actually Jason Bradley DeFord, joked.<\/p>\n

Moments later, Keith Urban<\/strong> revealed that he wanted to sit next<\/a> to Jelly Roll during the ceremony and internally proclaimed that he was \u201cnot happy.\u201d Instead, Urban, 56, was seated next to Buc\u2019ee\u2019s mascot Bucky the Beaver.<\/p>\n

The biggest names of the genre brought their fashion A-game to Austin\u2019s Moody Center on Sunday, April 7. We\u2019re talking flirty frocks, glamorous gowns, stylish suits \u2014 paired with bold hair, fierce makeup and accessories to remember.\u00a0 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Moody Center is the New Barbie Dreamhouse<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ballerini had several wardrobe changes during the show, including one look where she wore a replica of Margot Robbie<\/strong>\u2019s cowboy-inspired Barbie <\/i>jumpsuit and hat<\/a>. She proclaimed that she is \u201cCountry Barbie\u201d and had an idea for who could be her \u201cWeird Barbie\u201d \u2014 Jelly Roll.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeird Barbie\u201d is the name of Kate McKinnon<\/strong>\u2019s movie character, referring to a doll that had been played with (and thus, loved) so much.<\/p>\n

Everyone Gets a Hug From Jelly Roll

Ballerini focused on Jelly Roll in another one of her hosting segments.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart of being a host is I get to give good news and bad news. So, I do have some bad news for the celebrities in the audiences: There are no gift bags tonight, I know, I know,\u201d she said. \u201cBut, we do have something way better that I can give out right now. Ready? A hug from Jelly Roll, come here, baby! Best hug ever! It\u2019s an award in itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Jelly Roll and Ballerini embraced, she asked if anyone else \u201cwanted to get in on this action\u201d too.<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll, who is nominated for three awards, brought wife Bunnie XO to the ceremony. The singer, 39, opted for an all-black look with a beige leather jacket and a diamond cross necklace. Bunnie XO, 44, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHold on, Gayle King<\/strong>\u2019s getting a hug!\u201d Jelly Roll exclaimed. \u201cAshley [McBryde]<\/strong>\u2019s getting a hug. Cody [Johnson]<\/strong> gets a hug. But, Gayle King gets a hug! Gayle King, how was that hug?\u201d<\/p>\n

King, 69, immediately asked for a follow-up cuddle.<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll won CMT Performance of the Year for his rendition of \u201cNeed a Favor\u201d at last year\u2019s awards show. After giving Bunnie XO, 44, a sweet peck, he walked up on stage.<\/p>\n

Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO stood up the entire time, singing along to Keith\u2019s biggest hits. After Hagar, 76, finished his set, Jelly Roll raised a red Solo cup. (The entire crowd and band were giving plastic glasses, a nod to Keith\u2019s song of the same name.)<\/p>\n

Another Win<\/b><\/h3>\n

Jelly Roll also took home the trophy for Male Video of the Year, where he gave an impassioned and rousing speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, my brother Cody Johnson, \u2018The Painter,\u2019 that was one of the best music videos I\u2019ve ever seen in my life. That\u2019s my brother in real life. I love you, Cody Johnson,\u201d Jelly Roll gushed. \u201cThank you to CMT, man. I couldn\u2019t believe it, y\u2019all gave me a chance last year. I came back this year on fire! I\u2019m having one of the greatest nights of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cBut speaking of second chances, it is important that I stand up here tonight and represent those [who] are looking for second chances. The kids \u2026 down here in the Austin juvenile detention facility are watching this tonight. I\u2019m cheering y\u2019all boys on. You can beat this. You can change. You can turn it around, I promise you. I once heard a man say, \u2018Don\u2019t change until the pain to remain the same is greater than the pain it takes to change and that\u2019s what it takes.\u2019 I love you, Texas!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ready to Party<\/b><\/h3>\n

When King took the stage later that night to present Female Video of the Year, she revealed that she just had another interaction with Jelly Roll after their now-viral hug.<\/p>\n

\u201cJelly Roll\u2019s going to be on [CBS Mornings<\/i>] live tomorrow morning, and I just saw him backstage and said, \u2018Jelly, please don\u2019t stay out too late,\u2019\u201d King said. \u201cHe said, \u2018I can\u2019t make no promises, Gayle. I can\u2019t make no promises.\u2019 I just adore him.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Jelly Roll won Video of the Year, he responded to King\u2019s remarks. \u201cGayle King, I\u2019m gonna be a little late in the morning,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna party, Austin. Let\u2019s go!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clean Sweep<\/b><\/h3>\n

Jelly Roll won every award he was up for on Sunday, which even surprised him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBilly Bob Thornton just gave me my third trophy of the night, y\u2019all,\u201d he said after earning Video of the Year. \u201cCody Johnson, I\u2019m not gonna tell you anything up here I don\u2019t tell you on the phone: You are my favorite cowboy forever and ever and one of my best friends in the business, I love you, brother.
