Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> is proving to be a valuable teammate in NFL stadiums and<\/i> in Hollywood.<\/p>\n

After Sonequa Martin-Green<\/strong>\u2019s new film My Dear Friend Zoe<\/i> debuted at SXSW in March, the actress is sharing a glimpse into how Kelce\u2019s involvement behind the scenes helped support the indie project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI found out after we shot that he was one of the original financiers,\u201d Martin-Green, 39, told Extra<\/i><\/a> on Friday, April 5. \u201cIt was because he mentioned to his team \u2014 hopefully I\u2019m not telling too much, Travis. My bad if I am but it\u2019s a good thing. He told his team, \u2018I want to support veterans.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

With Kelce\u2019s role as executive producer, Martin-Green is hopeful more Americans can watch the film and see veterans in a deeper way.<\/p>\n

Kelce got his NFL start in 2013 after being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, and his longtime pals have been some of his biggest supporters along the way. My Dead Friend Zoe<\/i> is a dark comedy following the story of a female Afghanistan veteran and her relationships with her dead best friend from the Army, as well as her estranged Vietnam veteran grandfather.<\/p>\n

Director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes<\/strong> \u2014 who served five years in the U.S. Army and received a Bronze Star in Iraq \u2014 still remembers receiving the news that Kelce wanted to be part of the film.<\/p>\n

While the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is more known for his football plays than his movie experience, Kelce has been supportive of the military and veterans for a long time, Hausmann-Stokes said.<\/p>\n
