Fire Country<\/em> fans witnessed a heartbreaking death<\/a> on the Friday, April 5, episode \u2014 and even the actress who played the character wishes she could have saved her.<\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers below for Fire Country season 2, episode 5.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIf I had any involvement, I would be not dead,\u201d Sabina Gadecki<\/strong>, who plays Cara, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> before her character\u2019s death played out<\/a> on screen.<\/p>\n

During Friday\u2019s episode, Cara got into an ambulance accident with Bode (Max Thieriot<\/strong>), which resulted in a brain injury and eventual death all before her boyfriend, Jake (Jordan Calloway<\/strong>), could get to her and propose.<\/p>\n

While Gadecki was sad to see Cara\u2019s demise, she told Us<\/em> she felt prepared to say goodbye thanks to the writers\u2019 warning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a whole beautiful heart-to-heart before the season started, so I feel really grateful that I knew ahead of time,\u201d she explained. \u201cThey felt they needed a place for all the characters to go and they were like, \u2018We need you to know this was a pivotal storytelling moment, not a spur of the moment decision to get rid of a character.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress recalled receiving a call from the showrunner, Tia Napolitano<\/strong>, in December 2023 before season 2 got underway and she prayed, \u201cPlease, don\u2019t let this be the call.\u201d As soon as Napolitano said she wanted to \u201ctalk about your story arc,\u201d Gadecki said, \u201cDamn it,\u201d because she knew.<\/p>\n

Gadecki, who began playing Cara halfway through season 1 in 2023, was happy to have \u201ctime to process on my own before the rest of the cast<\/a>\u201d learned of Cara\u2019s fate. \u201cI feel grateful they honored my character in the way that they did. Even though it guts me,\u201d she confessed.<\/p>\n

During the episode, Cara and Bode had a real discussion about coparenting her daughter, Genevieve (Alix West Lefler<\/strong>), whom she said earlier this season could be Bode\u2019s child. Cara was also taking steps forward in her romance with Jake, who had bought a ring in hopes of getting engaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I do feel a lot of unanswered questions were answered in that scene [with Bode]. I wish we got to explore further,\u201d Gadecki revealed to Us<\/em>. \u201cI wish I got to explore my relationship with Jake further. I think we just started to scratch the surface with, I think we had something really special there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although she is \u201cbummed\u201d Cara and Jake didn\u2019t make it down the aisle, Gadecki had nothing but good things to say about working on the CBS series.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to keep people on their toes. The writers know what they\u2019re doing<\/a>, so I\u2019m bummed, of course, because I love Cara,\u201d she continued. \u201cI love the show. I loved everything about it, but I get it. It makes sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though Gadecki has processed Cara\u2019s death, she hasn\u2019t given up hope for a return to Fire Country<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFire Country puts in a lot of work to make their cast look nearly unrecognizable on the show. The CBS series, which premiered in 2022, follows inmate Bode (Max Thieriot) as he gets a chance to shorten his prison sentence by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode gets assigned to his hometown where [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou pour your heart and soul into a character for a year and a half and Cara becomes a part of me, and so it\u2019s hard to say goodbye,\u201d she confessed. \u201cI hope that there\u2019s room to sort of explore, maybe flashbacks and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gadecki teased that as soon as the writers give her the go ahead, she\u2019d happily fly back to set and reprise the role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would be so honored to be a part of the flashbacks because I think there is some more to explore of the backstory and sort of Jake and [Cara\u2019s] relationship and how we came to this place of potentially getting engaged. I think it\u2019s a lot more to explore there,\u201d she said. \u201cI think there\u2019s more to explore with mine and Bode\u2019s relationship when we were kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gadecki also shared her hopes for Bode and Jake\u2019s futures<\/a> as they try and navigate being father figures to Gen without Cara. \u201cI hope that they can really come together, and I believe that they can and that\u2019s why I [as Cara] let go,\u201d she explained. \u201cI know that they\u2019re good people and I think that they\u2019re going to be her family.\u201d<\/p>\n
