I&#8217;m beyond excited and more than a little nervous to be tasked with the chance to continue with his extraordinary legacy. Beautiful, moving, relaxing and uplifting music to lift the soul on a Sunday morning, coupled with the stories, suggestions, requests and precious memories from you, the listener, will ensure that this won&#8217;t be just MY show, but OUR show. I hope you will join us as we continue to share the love.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, former &#8216;Take Me Out&#8217; star Paddy added that he has loved stepping in for the long-serving Rylan Clark over the Easter break but is thrilled to be stepping into a regular role on the broadcaster.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;I\u2019ve loved keeping Rylan\u2019s seat warm on Saturday afternoons and returning to the airwaves over Easter. To be given my very own regular show on the legendary Radio 2 is a dream come true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nThe announcement comes just months after the death of radio legend Steve Wright, who passed away suddenly in February at the age of 69.<\/p>\n<p>\nSteve joined the BBC in the 1970s, and as well as hosting shows on Radio 1 and Radio 2 he also hosted \u2018Top of the Pops\u2019 in its heyday.<\/p>\n<p>\nA statement from his family said about his death: \u201cIt is with deep sorrow and profound regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Steve Wright.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cIn addition to his son, Tom, and daughter, Lucy, Steve leaves behind his brother, Laurence and his father Richard.<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cAlso, much-loved close friends and colleagues, and millions of devoted radio listeners who had the good fortune and great pleasure of allowing Steve into their daily lives as one of the UK\u2019s most enduring and popular radio personalities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/celebrity\/michael-ball-paddy-mcguinness-announced-bbc-radio-2-presenters-1397212.html?f=rss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2 April 2024 Michael Ball and Paddy McGuiness will host new slots on BBC Radio 2 following the death of Steve Wright.
