Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong> <\/a>has called out \u201call the record labels, every radio station, every awards show\u201d after facing backlash for her new country album, Cowboy Carter<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old\u2019s foray into country music had been met with resistance from some country music fans and country music radio stations who ignored fan requests<\/a> to play the songs on air.<\/p>\n

Dukes of Hazzard<\/em> actor John Schneider<\/strong> was also accused of racism when he compared the \u201cCrazy in Love\u201d singer\u2019s ambitions to step into the new genre to a dog marking its territory, during an interview with conservative network One America News.<\/p>\n

Black artists joining the country music scene has long been a controversial issue despite rhythm & blues, created by Black musicians, having inspired the genre.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMiranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood and more female country artists have inspired Us over the years. Morris, for her part, teamed up with fellow artists Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires and Natalie Hemby to form a supergroup called The Highwomen, releasing their self-titled debut album in September 2019. \u201cI\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard about this very [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But on Monday, April 1, Beyonc\u00e9 hit back at the criticism by telling the audience at the iHeartRadio Music Awards that the music industry needs to become \u201cmore open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter, who last month became the first Black woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard<\/em> Hot Country chart with her catchy track \u201cTexas Hold \u2018Em,\u201d appeared on-stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for the show hosted by Ludacris<\/strong>, where she received the Innovator Award from soul legend Stevie Wonder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Wearing a black leather suit<\/a> with a matching cowboy hat, she thanked the 25-time Grammy winner for playing the harmonica on her version of Dolly Parton<\/strong>\u2019s 1973 hit \u201cJolene,\u201d which features on Cowboy Carter<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever anyone asks me if there\u2019s anyone that I could listen to for the rest of my life, it\u2019s always you,\u201d she told him, before dedicating her award to those who have \u201cdedicated their lives and their art to creating shifts.\u201d<\/p>\n

She mentioned Sister<\/strong> Rosetta Tharpe<\/strong>, Tracy Chapman<\/strong>, Linda Martell<\/strong>, Prince<\/strong>, Andr\u00e9 3000<\/strong>, Tina Turner<\/strong> and Michael Jackson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[They] defied any label placed upon them, thank you for executing your dream so we could all follow,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Beyonce also thanked her husband, Jay-Z<\/strong>, describing him as \u201cmy rock, my best friend, I love you\u201d and her \u201cthree beautiful children who continue to be my inspiration, my biggest blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mother of three has also given Black women<\/a> in the music industry \u2014 like Mickey Guyton, K. Michelle<\/strong>\u00a0and Tyla<\/strong> \u2014 their flowers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith opportunity comes possibility. The possibilities are endless with you @Beyonce,\u201d Guyton, 40, wrote via X on Friday, March 29, alongside photos of a bouquet of white flowers and a note from Bey herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for opening doors for me, queen. Keep shining,\u201d the note read, signed with \u201clove and respect\u201d from Beyonc\u00e9.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Guyton became the first Black female artist to be nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for her song \u201cBlack Like Me.\u201d That same year, she was the first Black female artist to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards.<\/p>\n

I hope to meet you one day.\u201d<\/p>\n
