The singer, 38, who is now settled with her \u2018Stranger Things\u2019 actor husband David Harbour<\/a>, 48, and her two children, went through a wild period when she hit fame as a singer, and her mother Alison Owen says she saw Lily and Amy go through disturbingly similar struggles when they were first thrust into the public eye.<\/p>\n

Alison, 63, who is a producer on the upcoming Amy Winehouse<\/a> biopic \u2018Back to Black\u2019, told The Times she though being in the spotlight \u201cwould destroy my daughter\u201d and lead her down the same grim path Amy ended up on \u2013 which saw her die aged 27 in 2011 from alcohol poisoning.<\/p>\n

Referring to Lily\u2019s former hellraising actor dad Keith Allen, 70, she added: \u201cLily fitted the bill because, early in her success, her role model was her dad.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019d seen him idolized for swearing, taking drugs and being drunk in the Groucho Club (in London), so in her young brain she thought that\u2019s what you did when you became famous. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cShe didn\u2019t realize it\u2019s only OK for men. Women get punished for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAlison said photographers would wait for Lily in the early days of her fame and \u201csay things like, \u2018I see your single\u2019s going down the charts,\u2019 or, \u2018You\u2019ve put on weight, Lily\u2019\u201d in the hope of making her \u201cangry or cry\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nAlison also spoke about feeling disturbed after seeing Amy looking high on drugs and shockingly thin while out with her former partner Blake Fielder-Civil, 41, at a music industry party.<\/p>\n

\nShe said: \u201cAmy was as thin as a pencil. And she and Blake were in the middle of this room dancing in a full-on sexual way.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cBoth were clearly \u2018using\u2019 and I remember thinking, \u2018This is an accident waiting to happen. This is going to be a disaster.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\nLily has now been sober for four years and is focusing on her acting career from her home in the US, where she is raising her daughters, 12-year-old Ethel and 10-year-old Marnie, who she had with her 46-year-old first husband Sam Cooper.<\/p>\n

\nAlison added: \u201cLily was lucky. She\u2019s happy bringing up her children.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
