Teyonah Parris<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n The 36-year-old actress plays Captain Monica Rambeau in the MCU. She made her debut in the 2021 Disney+ series WandaVision<\/em> before appearing in 2023\u2032s The Marvels<\/em>, in which she starred alongside Brie Larson<\/strong><\/a> and Iman Vellani<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Teyonah<\/strong> recently spoke about what the portraying the character means to her. She also shared some interesting tidbits on her experience filming The Marvels<\/em>!<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Despite the film\u2019s poor reviews, the star said that she still enjoyed being part of a project with Brie<\/strong> and Iman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t say that I really felt the hate because we were in a very disconnected time,\u201d Teyonah<\/strong> told IGN<\/a> back in February. \u201cI was surrounded by people who were excited for me, people who wanted and were waiting to see me and these other women get up here and kick butt. So I felt a lot of love.\u201d<\/p>\n Teyonah<\/strong> also revealed that her time on set was cut short due after someone in proximity to her tested positive for COVID.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd so they snatched me anyway, so I never actually wrapped,\u201d she shared. \u201cI was like, \u2018What? You have got to be kidding me.\u2019 Like, 10 months or whatever, however long we were here and the day before, I didn\u2019t have COVID, but someone around me had it. And so they snatched my butt off the set.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to working on The Marvels<\/em> with director Nia DaCosta<\/strong><\/a>, Teyonah<\/strong> starred in Candyman, which was also helmed by the filmmaker.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Nia\u2019s mind and how it works,\u201d she said. \u201cShe\u2019s also just very collaborative and open to ideas, and also just really gives me, the artist, the space to make their own choices. \u2026So I\u2019ve loved our working relationship. She trusts me, I trust her, and we have been able to just make really cool projects and movies from that that are rooted in that trust.\u201d<\/p>\n Finally, Teyonah<\/strong> addressed the importance of playing a Black superhero in an increasingly diverse MCU.<\/p>\n \u201cI am so grateful for that.
