The Take That singer, 53, was devastated when his fourth child was delivered stillborn at full term on 4 August, 2012, days before his band had to perform at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics \u2013 and Gary has now admitted he feared the trauma would end his marriage to his 54-year-old wife Dawn. <\/p>\n
He said on \u2018The Imperfects\u2019 podcast: \u201cI haven\u2019t really found peace with it yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t talk about this in great detail and I literally don\u2019t because I\u2019m still kind of figuring it out a little bit. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife\u2019s emotions were completely different to mine. I\u2019ve been angry for a long time about that \u2013 I haven\u2019t really found peace with it yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added about his fears Poppy\u2019s death would lead to the collapse of his marriage: \u201cWe had a worrying statistic when it happened to us, something like 95 per cent of couples split up when something like that happens to them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think it comes down to men deal with it differently than the women do. My wife does far better than I do \u2013 she\u2019s a much stronger person than I am.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe\u2019s really been amazing throughout it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGary and Dawn have son Daniel, 22, as well as daughters Emily, 19, and Daisy, 13, and the singer said about his kids\u2019 reactions to the tragedy: \u201cThe youngest one wasn’t affected at all by it, but the older two still talk about it a lot.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a highly complex thing that none of us should ever have to go through.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added about how he managed to draw strength from Poppy\u2019s passing: \u201cI guess it\u2019s made me stronger, I think so. I think things like that have to, don\u2019t they?<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere was definitely a point where I wondered if we\u2019d ever be back to where we were before but I think we have got there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGary wrote his song \u2018Let Me Go\u2019 as a tribute to Poppy, and said about using it to help cathartically dispel his grief: \u201cFor me, usually my way around most things in life is not talking about them \u2013 I write music. I\u2019ve got lots of music that keeps her alive for me on a nightly basis. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen I see audiences singing along, that\u2019s the life for me \u2013 that\u2019s what she brought and it\u2019s here in front of me and it happens a few times a week on stage and that\u2019s the way I keep her close to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
