The \u2018WAP\u2019 rapper, 31, spoke about her battle to find suitable outfits in a chat with her stylist Kollin Carter to mark him being named in The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s annual list of the entertainment industry\u2019s most influential stylists.<\/p>\n
She told the publication: \u201cThere are so many obstacles against us. For example, this body is not meant for a size two. I\u2019m very hips, (bum), and that\u2019s me\u201d.<\/p>\n
Cardi \u2013 born Belcalis Marlenis Alm\u00e1nzar \u2013 added dressing curvy figure \u201cwas not easy\u201d, but said she and Kollin \u201cmake it look easy\u201d.<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cOur door was closed many times\u2026 but we\u2019re here because we do it well.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m not going to be humble about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKollin said their hard work has paved the way for other women in the industry with curves and caused a \u201ccultural shift\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI don\u2019t think there were many women like Cardi who existed in the fashion space.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNow there are a ton of other rap females who aspire to be in that space because they see what\u2019s possible. We set trends.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nKollin also discussed Cardi B\u2019s famous 2019 Met Gala gown designed by Thom Browne, which made headlines due to its ostentatious train \u2013 and landed the star on every best-dressed list the night of the event.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cThat look broke Cardi B into the next level of the fashion world. \u201cPeople who didn\u2019t take us seriously were like, \u2018OK, they\u2019re here to stay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKollin is also a fashion editor, and his other famous clients include Naomi Campbell, Kelly Rowland and Normani.<\/p>\n
\nBefore fame, he completed a three-year apprenticeship under Law Roach before becoming Cardi B\u2019s stylist in 2017.<\/p>\n
\nThe Bronx-born stylist regularly posts photos of Cardi donning various unique outfits on his Instagram account, which has amassed nearly 370,000 followers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
