Swedish gaming conglomerate Embracer Group has entered an agreement to sell Gearbox Interactive to Rockstar<\/em> parent company Take-Two for $460 million. In a press release published on Thursday<\/a>, Embracer announced that Take-Two will acquire full ownership over the Borderlands<\/em> (including Tiny Tina\u2019s Wonderlands<\/em>), Homeworld<\/em>, Risk of Rain<\/em>, Brothers in Arms<\/em>, and Duke Nukem<\/em> franchises in the deal, which is expected to be finalized by June 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Take-Two Entertainment will also acquire the Gearbox studios based in Quebec, Montr\u00e9al, and Frisco, Texas. Embracer will, however, retain several Gearbox assets, including Gearbox Publishing San Francisco (which will be renamed), Cryptic Studios, Lost Boys Interactive, the Remnant<\/em> franchise, Hyper Light Breaker<\/em>, and \u201cother notable unannounced game releases.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The acquired assets \u2014 which according to Take-Two<\/a> include two Borderlands <\/em>titles, two Homeworld<\/em> titles, and \u201cat least one exciting new intellectual property\u201d already in development \u2014 will continue being led by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford under Take-Two\u2019s 2K division. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to welcome Randy Pitchford and his team of passionate, talented developers to 2K and we look forward to releasing numerous projects in the future as colleagues,\u201d said 2K president David Ismailer<\/a>. \u201cWe have loved partnering with Gearbox on every iteration of the Borderlands<\/em> franchise and are excited to be in active development on the next installment in the series.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
