King CharlesKing Charles III<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 will give his first direct public message since Princess Kate Middleton<\/strong><\/a> revealed her cancer diagnosis<\/p>\n

The king, who is also undergoing treatment for the disease, will stress the importance of friendship \u201cespecially in a time of need\u201d in audio that will be played in his absence at a Royal Maundy service in the UK\u2019s Worcester Cathedral today Thursday, March 28.<\/p>\n

He will say that Jesus set an \u201cexample of how we should serve and care for each other\u201d, and that \u201cwe need and benefit greatly from those who extend the hand of friendship to us, especially in a time of need\u201d.<\/p>\n

While the monarch does not mention his daughter-in-law, his words are expected to reflect the world\u2019s response to his and Kate\u2019s health battles.<\/p>\n

The news follows Queen Camilla<\/strong> saying that Kate, 42, \u201cwill be thrilled<\/a>\u201d after receiving posters from well-wishers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support,\u201d Camilla, 76, told royal watchers during an outing at the Shrewsbury Farmers\u2019 Market on Wednesday, March 27, according to social media users.<\/p>\n

She was photographed greeting members of the public during her outing and was even given a rose at one point. She also held a sign that read, \u201cSend love to Kate,\u201d offering further support to her daughter-in-law.<\/p>\n

Kate said her diagnosis<\/a> came as a \u201chuge shock\u201d to her and her family in a video statement on Friday, March 22. The Princess of Wales sat on a bench<\/a> as she addressed the world after months of speculation about her well-being and whereabouts following a planned abdominal surgery in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I\u2019ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me for which I\u2019m so grateful,\u201d Kate said while thanking fans for their \u201csupport\u201d and \u201cunderstanding\u201d amid her absence.<\/p>\n

Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video on March 22, ending weeks of speculation about her whereabouts and well-being. Among those questioning the princess\u2019 condition were some household names Stateside, who were forced [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIn January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy, and I\u2019m now in the early stages of that treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n
