Microsoft appears to be readying a white version of its Xbox Series X console without a disc drive. Exputer<\/em> has published<\/a> a series of leaked images of the white Xbox Series X, showing that it\u2019s a disc-less system with the same design on the exterior as the existing black Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The white coating appears to be identical to the Xbox Series S \u201crobot white\u201d that Microsoft uses on its smaller $299 console. Exputer <\/em>reports that this white Xbox Series X will have some internal components upgraded, including the heatsink used to cool the console. The Verge<\/em> has seen additional documents detailing changes to this white Xbox Series X that suggest these leaked photos are genuine, but we\u2019ve reached out to Microsoft to comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Exputer <\/em>claimed<\/a> last month that this white Xbox Series X could arrive in June or July, priced at $50-$100 less than the current $499 retail price of the Xbox Series X. If Microsoft is planning to launch this particular disc-less Xbox Series X soon, that would suggest the company has canceled or pushed back the refreshed version of the Xbox Series X console that leaked in FTC v. Microsoft<\/em> documents last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Codenamed Brooklin<\/a>, that unannounced console refresh featured an Xbox Series X design that\u2019s a lot more cylindrical than the existing console or this new rectangular one, though it also would have had no disc drive. Microsoft described that console as \u201cadorably all digital\u201d in internal documents, and it was supposed to ship with a new controller and Xbox Wireless 2 connection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Microsoft was tentatively planning to ship this Brooklin console in November, priced at $499. Xbox chief Phil Spencer addressed the leaks around Brooklin<\/a> last September, hinting that plans may have changed for Xbox hardware. \u201cIt is hard to see our team\u2019s work shared in this way because so much has changed and there\u2019s so much to be excited about right now, and in the future,\u201d said Spencer in a post on X in September. \u201cWe will share the real plans when we are ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
