Former Bachelorette<\/em><\/a> Michelle Young<\/strong><\/a> is excited to see Jenn Tran<\/strong><\/a> take her next steps to finding The One.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m incredibly happy for her,\u201d Young, 30, said in an interview with Extra<\/em><\/a> published on Wednesday, March 27. \u201cI think when it comes down to it, it\u2019s a difficult position to be in to start off with.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Young, who was the lead of season 18, acknowledged that Bachelor Nation is \u201csupportive at times,\u201d the love for the Bachelorette<\/em> doesn\u2019t always translate online. She admitted that being The Bachelorette<\/em> can be a \u201cpretty difficult position\u201d especially when you\u2019re representing an entire community, which is what Tran, 26, will be doing as the first Asian American bachelorette<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are moments where you might not be the fan favorite and you know Bachelor Nation is not necessarily reflective of the representation of love across the board,\u201d Young explained. \u201cSo I think it\u2019s really special that she gets that opportunity and I hope that people give grace and understanding to just that role and the pressure that it carries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Young confessed that she got the chance to talk to Tran before she was announced as the series\u2019 next lead and gushed that she seems like a \u201cphenomenal person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s so down to Earth, so hardworking. Her intentions are in the correct spot and she has a lot on her shoulders and she\u2019s definitely there for the, oh my god, [the] \u2018right reasons,\u2019\u201d she teased. \u201cShe\u2019s definitely there to find her person and she\u2019s a great person to be in that position to showcase that representation.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Young acknowledged that many Bachelor Nation fans had others in mind from Joey Graziadei<\/strong>\u2019s season for the role, she noted it is \u201cincredibly important\u201d that the audience can be \u201ctruly open to seeing other types of love stories.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tran was selected to be the next Bachelorette<\/em> after season 28 finalist Daisy Kent<\/strong> turned down the gig<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel so, so grateful and so honored, to be the first Asian bachelorette in this franchise,\u201d Tran said after the casting decision was announced during the season 28 Bachelor finale on Monday, March 25. \u201cAnd now to be here today saying \u2026 I am going to lead my own love story, I am going to be the main character in my story \u2014 like, I just can\u2019t help but think of how many people I\u2019m inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n
