Cory Wharton<\/strong><\/a> is getting real about how past infidelity continues to play a role in his relationship with Taylor Selfridge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor doesn\u2019t trust me because I cheated on her five years ago and I regret it every day,\u201d Wharton, 33, revealed on the Wednesday, March 27, episode of Teen Mom: Family Reunion<\/i><\/a>. \u201cI need to do the best I can do to make sure to rebuild that trust between me and Taylor because right now, it\u2019s dragging us down like an anchor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The revelation came when the cast was participating in a couple\u2019s exercise with relationship experts Dr. Mike Dow<\/strong> and Michaiah Dominguez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When asked what was blocking their relationship progress, both Wharton and Selfridge, 29, agreed that their trust was not where it should be.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of trust, Cory just wants me to get over it because it happened so long ago,\u201d Selfridge explained. \u201cYes, it happened five years ago but I\u2019m not over it yet and I feel like it\u2019s something we haven\u2019t worked through yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI\u2019m definitely still holding a grudge about it. I don\u2019t forget. That\u2019s the problem. I\u2019ll always think there could be something. It\u2019s hard when someone breaks your trust like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wharton and Selfridge have been together since meeting on Ex on the Beach<\/i><\/a> in 2017. They share two daughters: Mila, 3, and Maya, 20 months. Wharton also shares daughter Ryder, 7, with ex<\/a> Cheyenne Floyd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the exercise, Floyd, 31, was surprised by her ex\u2019s openness about his past mistakes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if everybody here knew about the cheating and I think that now that the cheating has been put on the table, it just brings up all those past emotions for Taylor,\u201d Floyd said. \u201cCory has to realize that cheating can be really hard to work through and I feel like he doesn\u2019t have the proper tools to work through it right now by himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate chat with costar Tyler Baltierra<\/strong>, Wharton expressed his belief that cheating isn\u2019t the only issue he has to work through with his longtime girlfriend.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly in our relationship, I made a dumb mistake and I\u2019m paying for it to this day,\u201d he said. \u201cBut there\u2019s more to me and her than just my issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
