Charity Lawson<\/strong><\/a> has been named the star of season 20 of The Bachelorette.<\/em><\/p>\n At the end of the Women Tell All<\/em>, which aired on Tuesday, March 14, Jesse Palmer<\/a><\/strong> told Charity that she\u2019s got the gig after tricking her with a fake game for The Bachelorette\u2019<\/em>s social media account.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you kidding? \u2026 No way. I\u2019m gonna cry,\u201d she said. \u201cYes, absolutely [I\u2019ll be The Bachelorette]. 100 percent! \u2026 I\u2019m shaking right now.\u201d<\/p>\n The host responded: \u201cIn a couple of months, there\u2019s a very good chance that you\u2019re going to be engaged to the love of your life! \u2026 Your life really is going to change. It\u2019s never going to be the same. It could not happen to a more deserving person.\u201d<\/p>\n Charity called her parents to tell them the news. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to show little girls that look like me that being in a position like this is possible,\u201d she concluded. \u201cI know that I\u2019ll be making a lot of people proud.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans met the 27-year-old child and family therapist on Zach Shallcross<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 season 27 of The Bachelor.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cCharity is the total package! The Georgia beauty takes her name as a call to love and care for people and has built her life on that purpose,\u201d her ABC bio read. \u201cCharity is a mental health therapist and is extremely passionate about helping people live their best lives. Now, she is ready to receive the love she gives to so many others! Charity hopes her future husband is honest, loyal and shares similar morals.\u201d<\/p>\n Zach, 26, sent Charity home after hometowns but told Us Weekly<\/em> at the Women Tell All<\/em> taping that he was rooting for her to be the next franchise lead.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cShe knows what she wants. She is so confident, she\u2019s so sweet and, you know, she has a great heart,\u201d Zach told Us<\/em>. \u201cShe\u2019s someone from the very beginning that \u2014 I don\u2019t know what exactly it was \u2014 but [she] was just trustworthy. She was someone that I asked to, like, get her take on things and while there was some drama in the house early, she was always someone that I believed in [and] I trusted it too. She\u2019s a very trustworthy person and I think she would absolutely kill it as Bachelorette.\u201d<\/p>\n Jesse, meanwhile, played coy at the time, telling Us<\/em> that there were \u201cfive or six\u201d women from Zach\u2019s season that could have gotten the job.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s hard because I feel like in past seasons we\u2019ve had an obvious choice, like, two, maybe three [choices]. I feel like this season, there\u2019s five or six that could be tremendous,\u201d he teased in February. \u201cSo I\u2019d love to know who it is and whoever it is, I\u2019m sure it\u2019s going to be an amazing season.\u201d<\/p>\n When told that a lot of the season 27 stars have named Charity as their choice, the host added: \u201cI totally get it. I think she\u2019d be awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n Charity makes history as the fourth Black Bachelorette after Rachel Lindsay<\/strong><\/a> starred on season 13 and Tayshia Adams<\/strong><\/a> took over for season 16 lead Clare Crawley<\/strong><\/a> when she left the show early and Michelle Young<\/strong><\/a> was the season 18 star. Season 25 star Matt James<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, remains the first and only Black Bachelor.<\/p>\n
