J.K. Rowling<\/strong><\/a> is addressing the backlash.<\/p>\n The Harry Potter<\/strong><\/a> <\/em>author opened up in the newest episode of The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling<\/em>, released on Tuesday (March 14).<\/p>\n During the episode, she got candid about the comments she made on social media about transgender women.<\/p>\n \u201cI absolutely knew that if I spoke out many people who would love my books would be deeply unhappy with me,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cPersonally, it has not been fun and I have been scared at times for my own safety and, overwhelmingly, for my family\u2019s safety. Time will tell whether I\u2019ve got this wrong. I can only say that I\u2019ve thought about it deeply and hard and long and I\u2019ve listened, I promise, to the other side,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n She addressed the 2020 article that angered her, called \u201cCreating a more equal post-COVID-19 world for people who menstruate,\u201d causing her to rant on Twitter<\/a> about the term \u201cpeople who menstruate.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m coming to that article on the background of what I see as huge injustice and people trying to shut women down\u2026so I was angry, and I was flippant\u2026did I mean to drop a hand grenade in? No. I was just keeping a rein on my own fury. So off it went,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She then tweeted at the time<\/a>: \u201cIf sex isn\u2019t real, there\u2019s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn\u2019t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn\u2019t hate to speak the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n J.K.<\/strong> admitted the left\u2019s backlash she received \u201chit differently\u201d than conservatives, \u201cbecause I would assume we share certain values. But at the same time, I have to tell you, a ton of Potter fans were still with me. And in fact, a ton of Potter<\/em> fans were grateful that I\u2019d said what I said.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI stand by every word that I wrote there, but the question is, What is the truth? And I\u2019m arguing against people who are literally saying sex is a construct, [that] it\u2019s not real,\u201d she went on to say.<\/p>\n A star of the series recently spoke out, having compassion for both the author and the trans community.<\/a><\/p>\n Listen to J.K.
