Maggie Rogers<\/strong> has some fans convinced her latest single is connected to Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Red<\/em> era<\/a> with one key detail.<\/p>\n

Following the release of \u201cSo Sick of Dreaming\u201d from her upcoming album, Don\u2019t Forget Me,<\/em> Rogers, 28, opened up about the inspiration behind the \u201csassy\u201d voice note featured in the bridge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved concocting this sassy, camp-y narrator,\u201d she wrote in a newsletter that was later shared via Instagram<\/a> on Wednesday, March 20. \u201cSomething so Clueless<\/em> and Shania [Twain] about the whole thing in a way I couldn\u2019t resist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogers explained that the voicemail was \u201coriginally just supposed to be an instrumental placeholder,\u201d but she and her producer laughed so much hearing it back that they decided to leave it in. \u201cI think you can hear how much fun I was having,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeveral of Taylor Swift\u2019s famous friends and fans have shown up to shake it off at the singer\u2019s much-anticipated The Eras Tour. The stars of Swift\u2019s \u201cBejeweled\u201d music video \u2014 Este Haim, Danielle Haim, Alana Haim and Laura Dern \u2014 were among thousands of fans in attendance at the tour\u2019s opening night in Glendale, Arizona\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the recording, Rogers calls up a friend to describe a date gone wrong. \u201cSo he calls me up 15 minutes before the reservation and says he\u2019s got Knicks tickets instead,\u201d she says. \u201cI mean, I was at the restaurant. So I took the steaks to go, I had two martinis at the bar. And went to meet my friends down the street. What a loser. \u2026 And by the way, the Knicks lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Rogers referenced iconic \u201990s pop culture moments in her explanation, some listeners couldn\u2019t help but draw a line between Rogers\u2019 latest track and Swift\u2019s \u201cWe Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,\u201d originally released in 2012. Swift, 34, later rerecorded the song for Red (Taylor\u2019s Version)<\/a>,<\/em> which dropped in 2021.<\/p>\n

Swift\u2019s breakup anthem includes part of a conversation that starts in a nearly identical way to the voicemail featured on Rogers\u2019 song. \u201cSo he calls me up and he\u2019s like, \u2018I still love you,’\u201d Swift says. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018I just, I mean, this is exhausting, you know? Like, we are never getting back together. Like, ever.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s giving Taylor\u2019s voicemail in we are never ever getting back together\u2026 in the BEST way. Everyone say, \u2018thank you Maggie!!!’\u201d one fan wrote in the comments section of Rogers\u2019 post.<\/p>\n
